Considering using Amsoil Signature Series in my 2023 2.0 Ecoboost. Planning on using the OEM Ford oil filter and an OCI of 5,000 miles. Have 2,300 miles on it already and would like to keep it for a long time. I use it as a work vehicle and drive about 20,000 miles a year.
Anyone think that’s overkill?

I highly recommend it. It's never overkill when using good quality products on your vehicle. I've been using Amsoil Signature Series since the beginning.

I take my Maverick Hybrid to the Ford dealership I purchased it from to do the oil changes. I always bring with me a 1 Gallon jug and 1 Quart bottle of Amsoil Signature Series (0W-20). I provide the oil and the dealership provides the oil filter, tire rotation, basic multi-point inspection and labor. They've charged me $47 every single time. I'm taking it for its 4th oil change next month and I'll be doing it exactly the same.

I’d say your plan is excellent especially every 5k. Just verify the oil you use meets the oil specs listed in manual, which I would feel pretty certain the Amsoil does.

As long as you change the oil on a regular basis (5k. Miles or yearly) your doing better than the average owner . change trans at 60 k miles .

Amsoil is great.

But I'm not paying their prices. There are plenty of great options out there for just that much cheaper. I personally think if you are going to spend more money, just spend it on more frequent changes. Get your oil analysis done regularly and then you can choose your interval. For the first couple changes, do 3-4k and send in the oil analysis each time, then if you feel comfortable stretching to 5k, do it.

Where do you obtain an oil analysis and what does that cost? I'm 73 and I've never pursued an oil analysis. Not saying it's not an prudent option, I've just never considered it. Until I hit about 65 I always did my own oil changes and lube but finally talked myself into giving that task up, along with climbing up on my roof.

Doesn't the hybrid have a 5.5 quart oil capacity? Maybe you meant you bring a 5-quart jug and another quart?

I also like Amsoil, but I have gotten to where I like to use it for fluids that are changed less often but not as much as I used to in the engine oil, mainly due to expense.

A company called Blackstone is pretty famous for being one of the best. They are $35 for the OA but most people opt for the added TBN, so $45. They will send you the sample kit for free and you pay for the testing. It's all really simple. Even if you took your vehicle to the dealer to get your oil changed you could ask them to grab a sample for you and I'm sure they'd have no problem doing it and are likely used to it (or most do it themselves as well). Here is the site:

https://www.blackstone-labs.com/

Just hit the "get a free test kit" button and go from there (y)

It's a very popular thing now days. Instead of just guessing how long your oil change intervals should be, this is the best way to know if you are stretching too far or not far enough.

That is correct. That's why I take a jug (5 quarts) and an extra 1 quart bottle to top it off to around 5.5.

Amsoil is on the pricey side but it gives me piece of mind.

There is no overkill.

I changed my oil at 900 miles with Mobil1 Full Synthetic, at 4,800 miles with Royal Purple Full Syn, and I am going to strictly adhere to every 5k with Royal Purple here on out unless my 10k oil analysis says that I am stretching it too far (I can't imagine that would be the case).

I might be doing something wrong, but I plan on doing a oil and filter change at 500 miles then every 5,ooo there after. It will be a omg brand filter.
