Of all the reasons to not buy a vehicle... getting made they drop an outdated and largely obsolete feature used by very few. As was stated, just stream internet radio if it's that big of a deal.

But hey, it's America choose the vehicle you want for whatever reason you want.
58 million people per week listen to AM radio.

Over 4400 AM stations.

No free wifi in Maverick.

But, but, but, doesn't this require considerable data usage? Not all of us need or are willing to pay for unlimited data plans, heck I probably average less than 1/2 GB a month. I'm not willing to spend an additional $30/month just because the "cool kids" want to push streaming down my throat.

Audio doesn't burn that much data really. It's not HD video afterall.

* I think they misspelled the manufacturer. It was probably supposed to say "PRUNES".

I have a barebones XL order but would 100% non-ironically buy a higher trim if it came with a portable record player:

I love the bungie mounting bracket.

I'm a Luddite when it comes to cars, cell phones and appliances; they just don't need all of the fancy tech and I don't want to have to pay for it.

But I won't miss AM radio if they decide to leave it out...
They still have AM stations?

1/6 of every man, woman, and child in the United States listens to AM radio weekly? I don't believe that stat cite your source.

Here is some reporting on the topic:

https://rainnews.com/techsurvey-2022-am-fm-listening-trending-down/

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1246879/radio-consumption-united-states-canada/

The 58 million audience number was accurate as of 2017, so that's 6 years old now and probably no longer accurate given the trendlines.
Yeah, I saw some of that data with a Google search after I posted. Still not sure I believe that data, I'd be curious to see the footnotes and Asterix make that up. But it wasn't BS in the post itself so I'll concede that.

In the Chicago IL area, I've got (2) AM stations that provide weather and traffic updates every 10 minutes, plus my Bears are on AM. I'm not willing to pay for Sirius/XM just to get what has always been free, as long as I've been driving. for 50 years.

If you can't believe it, why post it?

Anyway, I listen to a couple AM sports/talk channels. But they are available on I-heart so I won't miss out.
I actually would have paid for a CD option. I still like to put in a CD and know that for 45 minutes or so I don't have to do anything but listen to music.....
I listen to AM talk stations streamed through my phone.

But boy do I miss having a CD player. So I bought this:
Amazon.com: HOTT C105 Portable CD Player with HiFi Bluetooth 5.0 and FM Transmitter,Rechargeable 1800mAh with Touch Vibration Button and 2.1" LCD Screen Aux for Car Audio Radio and Home Wireless Headset Speaker : Everything Else

It plays through the FM radio. Not the best sound quality but at least I can listen to my Sam Cooke CD on long trips. There is nothing better!

If it was the AM radio that put you over the edge, your relationship with the Maverick was on shaky ground already.

Ford sucks, but there is no other Mav, and they know it.

I figure my kids are going to look at my 2023 Tremor - with the rusted pinch welds and the sewing machine engine, scratched to hell interior - but still kicking in 2040 - the same way I view my Dad's 93 F-150
That is in all likelihood a "Bridge Too Far" considering the quality issues Ford has and the service support that many dealers are lacking.

Sorry to hear that but I understand. Waiting months or even over a year. Can leave a bad taste in your mouth for a company. I would say leave your order going. When it comes in decide if you want to keep the vehicle you got. Or trade it in for the Maverick. If I would ever leave Ford 🤣 sorry I couldn't leave. I would probably go Dodge, of course.

For me. I can't remember when I listened to an AM channel.

It’s probably been at least 20 years since I have listened to an AM channel but I do have to admit that I have an 8 Track player in my Garage!

Next up: I'm not buying a new iPhone because they dropped the fax machine feature.
Good news, there's an app for that...;)😂
