Tell you this much if I’m not happy when I take delivery, I will not hesitate to cancel. My deposit is fully refundable and I got it in Writing. We all work to hard to not be happy specially for almost 30K. I’m in no hurry for a car payment, my Prius works just fine. Just really wanted a truck!!!! Maybe 2023??

Everybody carries keys. I need a key to get into my house. I don't have fancy electronic locks.
Fancy? They have coded manual deadbolts (you punch in key and turn yourself) since at least 2006 as that's when my parents got theirs. I got fancier zwave "smart" ones that connect to your smarthome automation system so you can program it to unlock when you open the garage or motion sensor when your phone is on premise around 2011, over a decade ago. This aint cutting edge. :p
All it said was it used your cell phone as a key. Sure as hell hope you don't lose your phone shopping, you'll be screwed getting home.
I think you're a lot more likely to lose your keys than your phone, and its a lot easier to figure out where your phone is by calling it, or find your device on apple or google that will use its latest GPS location, than a pair of keys that once dropped in grass might be gone forever. Its one feature I do like that the Hyundai Santa Cruz has.

My truck is the last thing I still use with a key, as the house and my safes and phone and computer and everything are now all either code or biometric based... well, and a ID badge for work of course. It would be nice to ditch the last key.

One thing the Maverick has that the Hyundai doesn't though is an available keypad. That's nice if you need to send someone back to the car because they forgot something, they can just punch that in instead of needing a fob or phone.

Locks can be cracked even easier.
I've been using proximity keys for the last 10 years.
No issues, no cloning or anything like that.
And I always know exactly where my keys are.
Because they stay in my back pack 90% of the time.
are you sure proximity keys are that safe? I don’t care either way, but I find it interesting cars in the UK are becoming uninsurable because the signal the key puts out can be boosted, car opened, and started. You don’t have to have the key in the vehicle to keep it running.

The average new car price in the US in 2021 is $37,876. Mavericks are all econo boxes and are built to a price point and thus that's why you don't get all the options at all the trim levels. If you really want a feature that's available at higher trim level, you can get it, you just have to buy the higher level package.

Honestly, anything below the Lariat is a penalty box. That is to say, you can only get all the options in the Lariat. There is no pick and choose in the lower trim and that's on purpose. You just have to decide what you can live with.

Everyone is looking at the Maverick because they want a trunk. Maybe a small truck, maybe a hybrid truck. Then they say, I'll walk away if it's not exactly what I want. But what are you going to walk away and buy? There really is no other choice at this time for a small truck. Just feels like a lot of bluster.

I find it more interesting that crime is out of control in the UK, the whole "compassionate sentencing" and open borders policy isn't working out so great. In any case, I believe it was only a handful of fobs affected, its those that broadcast out a signal always instead of only for a period of time while they detect motion. So what criminals were doing is if they know that you usually put your keys by your back door, they would put one signal detector there, and then another at your vehicle that relays that same signal as if the key were right by it in order to open and start the car.

Its a pretty specific vulnerability easily dealt with, and those with affected vehicles if the manufacturer hasn't offered updated fobs can just drop their keys in any metal box instead of a basket, or if its not metal just line it with aluminum foil. This acts as a faraday cage and will block signals, or just don't keep the keys in your house right by the door.

Yea the convenience of just putting the key fob in your pocket, walking up to your truck. Truck unlocking, sitting down, starting it with just a press of a button and taking off is great. I bet the 2023 Maverick XLT will come standard with it. I would have gladly gave up the Ford door key pad for smart key and push start.
Unlikely considering even the 2021 F150 XLT has a key you only get push button start on Lariat and above trim. Seems more like ford is targeting it as luxury item that if you really want it you will be paying for many other features with it.

I started driving a 1968 mustang in 1989. 9 vehicles later a 2001 ranger trying to figure out what's the big deal of push button start. Then started driving my wife's 2015 taurus with keyless entry and push button start 😍. not a fan of the lariat's seat color. That's why I want with the XLT but I wish the XLT had push button start 😭

I have a Tacoma that uses a key and a Fusion that doesn’t. The convenience of push button is nice, but it’s not like I’m crying that I have to use a key in the Tacoma.
+1 my 06’ F150 has a key and my 18’ Mustang no key. I can do either one no problem. I can live with or without either.

Everybody carries keys. I need a key to get into my house. I don't have fancy electronic locks. I'm almost 67 and have been using keys for most of my life, but I guess the younger generation doesn't.

For what it's worth, I was building a Lincoln Nautilus online last night, I couldn't tell if they even had keys. All it said was it used your cell phone as a key. Sure as hell hope you don't lose your phone shopping, you'll be screwed getting home.
Google and apple and Amazon amounted yesterday that they are going to eliminate passwords all together. That they are going to work together to develop your phone as you password/key for everything

Yup, for those that do banking and bills online. If you don't have a cellphone tied to your identity. You're pretty much screwed.

Some credit card companies use your location to determine if it's you using your CC or if it has been stolen. If your phone is in Atlanta and you're buying $500 a night rooms in Paris. Chances are something's not right!😂

I like that they are doing this. Thieves are getting smarter and hacking banks and other financial institutions. I've had CC numbers stolen and used on cards that I haven't even used yet. 🤣

In this day and time. One shouldn't have to spend $30k plus to get a push button start. When many vehicles under $20k come with them standard.

I don't find push button start and proximity key very revolutionary. The one on my 2014 Ford Focus works half the time. I either have to bring my fob out of my pocket and put it near the button to start or push the unlock key on fob as proximity features are hit and miss. Also the life of battery in the fob don't matter at all.

Our 2020 Cx5 is a different story. Proximity key works flawlessly without a hitch.

I hear the new Ford proximity keys are pretty good as they all have that activation charge spot in the center console.

I considered getting a lariat because of that but I don't really want to pay extra plus I don't like the brown interior.
Get the black appearance package on a Lariat and you get black seats.
