Several years ago I had a car that illuminated the front left or right of the car when the left or right turn signal was activated. This was great when making sharp turns on dark country roads. Without them, it is often a little difficult to see where you are turning into when it is pitch black and the light is not illuminating your turning path. I would like to add this feature to my Maverick. Has anyone done this? Any ideas? Thanks.

My F150 has this and I agree that it’s very helpful. I was considering adding fog lights and possibly doing two sets on each side. One that would work like normal fog lights and the other that would shoot outwards some and I could manually control those for when I’m on the dark rural roads. It would be even better if I could tie them into the auto high beams. High beams on, they are on. High beams off, they are off. Either way, great idea.

In the BCM settings with FORScan there's an option for having the fog lights come on with the turn signals. In conjunction with the guide to adding fog lights it might be doable. Unsure if you'd need to replace the switch if you were to just enable them to function as turning lamps in that fashion.

Both the Escape and Sport light their fog lights depending on the turn signal position. While not as good as my 95 SHO dedicated turn lights they're not terrible.
Might be a forscan opportunity.

Unfortunately my Maverick XL does have "adaptive" headlights, due to poor design.

When I slow for a 90-degree turn, the headlights dim themselves automatically. I think the automatic headlights logic turns off the high beams when my speed drops below 25mph, which isn't safe when I'm driving on unlit back roads at night in deer country.

I'm thinking of adding the Rigid D-SS Pro on top of my Keko Sport Bar, that way I can see with the side shooters. I already have them on my Honda Element and they light up the sides great!

Courtesy lighting should of been a mandatory DOT requirement years ago. I can remember when Chryslers used to light an entire block with the lights they had next to the running lights on the side

There's a book I found that says they turn off below 32 mph.

RE: automatic high beams

Yes, you're right! Page 97 in my Maverick owners manual says 32 mph is the lower limit.

A Google search says that Toyota dips the high beams when my speed drops below 25 mph, which must be why I don't have this auto-dim problem in my wife's RAV4.

I'll explain to her why I need to take corners at higher speeds in my truck, for safety reasons. :D
