Nice buck. My father was from the UP (left in the 1940s). He told me they didn't shoot girls so we were never allowed a doe permit. Looks like that may still hold.In case anyone is wondering a 152 lb 8pt will fit in the maverick box.and I was able to close the tailgate.

I know you can, just a UP thing, at least back in the 40s where the old man lived. You can take a doe in Michigan.
Yes, unfortunately for many people, Bambi is the extent of their knowledge about deer populations. Illinois DNR has one of the best sites explaining why deer need to be harvested. https://deer.wildlifeillinois.org/management/why-manage-deer-2/Well, after 69 posts, who can seriously doubt that BAMBI is still relevant after 81 years!![]()

No, it's called surviving. On a side note, people like you are the problem with modern society. All I said is I heard a story about an old man who was struggling and suffering to get through life, and said I hoped he had something in life to make it all worth it. Your response was to insult me for wishing well on a old man, while I was in the process of watching my grandma die in front of me, powerless to stop it.It’s called living moron.
There you go then. That's exactly what I'm talking about, he's found a way to live a happy and wonderful life despite the challenges thrown at him. Good on him. That's a lot different that the atmosphere I experienced in my grandma's retirement home.Yeah, if you ever find yourself in that position ya might as well just take yourself out.
Funny thing is, he's a very happy man who has lived a good life and stayed within his means. He is healthy and spry for his age, despite two hip surgeries a couple decades ago. He owns what he has, and is not collecting welfare or wallowing around in debt like so many people nowadays. I have great respect for him.
Good on you for visiting your grandma. It probably meant more to her than you know, and you are a better person for spending time with her. It ain't easy, believe me I know...There you go then. My grandma, the only one I'm close to, died last night while I was on her bedside, and was in the process of dying as I wrote the comment. I think that, combined with spending a lot of time in a retirement home, gave me a more humanized, but depressed outlook on elderly people. I just felt bad, all of the time.
Bad that I couldn't do more to take care of my grandma, sad that life was this cruel, and determined to make people like her suffer for no reason. Sad that we're the only young people who would stop by and visit people in the home multiple times a week, and how everyone else seemingly dumped their elders in a care facility and forgot about them. I'm just disgusted at how elderly people are treated.
I always felt sympathy towards these people. But seeing so many people suffer, and in pain, and miserable, it just rewired my brain a little bit. It made me wonder what the point of it all is. I think it's great when elderly people are still able to have joy. But I met so many that didn't have that, who hated life, who didn't want to keep going, and who were just surviving. That's what I meant, that if my life ever got to that point, I wouldn't want to be around anymore.
