Hi All,

I've been on this forum since I preordered and received my 24' Ford Maverick XL Hybrid and I know there are plenty of threads addressing the Deep Sleep mode that drains the battery. I have my full story outlined below but scroll down if you just want to see the service message that was done to "fix" my deep sleep issue.

I have not had any real issues with this (thankfully) but my luck had run out last week when it started giving me deep sleep notifications at least once a day and even twice in the same day (before heading to work and coming back home). I knew it was time to take it to the dealer since my car is still under warranty.

I made an appointment and they "handled" the issue same day which was just replacing the battery (same model as factory) and reset some of the systems. I tried to explain to my service contact that an AGM battery would be a better solution since I've seen the threads here mention that has helped compared to the stock battery. He explained per Ford they cannot replace the battery with anything other than what comes stock from factory. I drove off the lot and felt it was working fine.

Then the following day I get another deep sleep message. I was busy that day so I did not go for a ride so the day after I tried to start and it was completely dead (first time its ever happened and I had countless deep sleep notifications). I contacted the same service contact and he told me to immediately bring it in and he would prioritize my car and try to get it done ASAP. He called me later in the day and said there was a "fix" Ford just released that should resolve the issue (which I thought was ironic timing) but nonetheless I wanted to try it out. This was released on 4/29/26.

Turns out it seems to have fixed my deep sleep problem (for now). This is the fix that Ford has been claiming for a long time to release to fix this issue that has been happening to all our Mavericks. Below is the exact wording of the fix and wanted to share here since I did not see it on this site. Not sure if the dealer would fix this at no cost but all of this was covered under warranty.

My truck is literally in the shop, and has been for the last week, the deep sleep issue was on the repair list. They said they would not cover it since it was out of warranty period and that my extended warranty didn’t cover issues with wear items.

Curious as to how Software is a wear item. Sounds lazy to me.

Actually no - that is not related to "that has been happening to all our Mavericks "

That is an intermittent battery drain issue, result is stated - no start due to battery discharged.
That is actually an infrequent complaint on the forums as you see many threads.
You had it, and this fixed it - great!
Some others may have this drain too.
Dollars to donuts they recharged your battery doing the software updates, unless they gave you another new battery. Shocked it's not AGM - might look under the seat.
That's going to hold off the real issue many of us have for awhile.
Hope dealership had donuts anyway!

But it doesn't take care of the undercharged battery issue that slowly but surely sulfates the battery, leading to months of starting, but max battery saver functions enabled and DSM on.

Great report though, the brake thing was mentioned months ago.
And compared to the ACCM issue of turning fans on for long beyond when needed - this brake issue would be very unnoticed by many. While I can hear the EPB while in the cab, if it started firing off after I walked away I'd never notice it. I'd sure hear it going when I got out though.

BTW - Deep Sleep Mode doesn't drain the battery, as you started your post.

MXer97, your sig says (23’ Hybrid XLT, Oxford White BAP, Hitch. Ordered 9/26/22 - picked up 10/31/23. ) 3yr warranty should go to 10/31/26?
I'm missing something here?

Claimed that my battery was dying. I asked if they can correct the software so that when I put my new battery in, it won’t accelerate the death of it.

Yea, they said I was out of standard bumper to bumper warranty period and that it’s eligible for the repair to be done. Tomorrow I’ll ask to speak to someone about getting the correct software update.

I thought most recalls were covered regardless of warranty status?

May just be federal recalls?

These aren’t recalls, from my understanding they will only recall issues if it’s a safety concern.
