2015 - 2020 Ford F-150 foldable headrest have the exact same foam profile as the Maverick rear headrests.
I had to cut out for the button, and open up slots at the bottom for travel. My sewing skills are not good so I lined the slots with iron on rip-stop strips which worked great. In any case this area is not visible. I also had to widen the right side post notch to lock into the Maverick guide. That's it. Bought the full set of F-150 headrests on eBay for $70.
I never really noticed a problem with rear visibility with the factory headrests, I just wanted foldable just because. Now that I have driven with the headrests down they really do help. Well worth the effort.

Excellent DIY. Definitely something I might look into.
I occasionally use a seat protector that hooks on to the headrests when I watch my niece's dog.

It's all about convenience.
I like the view out the back without the headrest, I don't want the additional hassle of removing and reinstalling the headrest. When I put the seat protector in.
I would rather just fold them down when not needed fold them up when I need them

Thank you for posting. 🤝

Good job OP.

Mine are stored under the rear seat 97% of the time allowing full view out the back window

I got my idea from your original post. If I remember correctly you found headrests that matched without swapping covers? Nothing matches with navy pier, of course. I had to take it one step further. Thanks for the idea!

Glad I could provide some inspiration. Nice job on the cover swap.

I don't want to have to keep reinstalling the headrest.

Thank you for posting. 🤝
I am so glad you posted that picture. I use the exact same protector in my backseat and I never thought to loop it over the grab bar I was messing with hooking it to the door, which is stupid
Thanks!

I’m curious - what interior color do you have specifically/were the Escape headrests a perfect match?
I've got a Lariat Tremor, so the Black Active-X interior. The Escape's are not a perfect match, but close enough for me. If the sun ever comes out here, I'll try to take & post a better pic.

Glenn Baker, would you please post information about your seat protector?
I like what I saw in your picture and it is about time for me to replace the one I have for my chocolate lab.
Thank you.
