Folding Rear Headrests Installed

after seeing htis thread, I've started the search for some of the folding headrests....
seems you can buy the locking tabs/inserts/whatever you wanna call them separately

Those inserts are for the up and down motion, not the tilting of the headrest.

yes, I?m aware of this: however, I thought I'd post due to the fact that several members have expressed the fact that the notches on the escape headreasts don't fully align with the locking mechanisms in the maverick seats..this should solve that issue

Installed these 2013-2019 Escape folding rear headrests (eBay purchase). Matches the XL black cloth interior. Great fit but they do not lock in - the notch in the shaft that locks them is a bit smaller than the OEM. I might modify it later but it is a snug fit - they aren’t going anywhere. Provides a lot more rear visibility and they clear the front seats when folding the rear seat down.

Good hunting! They look factory (well, they are, just for a different vehicle). Why didn't Ford just use this concept in the Maverick? They had the parts, right?

so, not that the timeline matters, but mine still hasn't reached the production stage...however, the parts are rapidly overtaking my shop....

got my headrests & went ahead and ordered some of the post inserts as well....

the headrest posts don't have the serrated locking notches..did I get the wrong year headrests (mine were off a '19 escape), or do none of the headrests have the locking serrations & I'm just being dense.

I'd love ot hear from those who've also done this to see if my headrests were an anomaly or the norm.

Yours are the norm, mine do not lock-in either. 5 minutes with a Dremel would fix it, but they fit tightly and don't move.

well, poop: looks like I wasted the money on the inserts...

or paid money to learn something

Mine have notches on both Mav and Escape but they are different. Mav has one wider notch only on the right post, about an inch from the top. Escape has a thinner notch on both posts about 1/4 inch from the top.
