Just installed the @F150LEDs engine bay light kit on my Maverick and honestly… this is one of those mods I didn’t know I needed until I had it.

The two LED strips light up the whole engine bay really evenly — no weird shadows or dark spots. Even during the day it helps, and at night it’s a total game changer when you’re checking stuff or doing quick work.

Best part is the auto on/off. Pop the hood, lights come on. Close it, lights turn off. No switches, no “did I leave that on?” moments.

Install was super straightforward and it comes with everything you need. They use legit 3M tape for the strips, so once it’s on, it’s not going anywhere. Wiring was clean, everything fit well, and it all feels solid quality.

I’ve already used it a bunch for basic checks and maintenance, and it makes life way easier. Plus, it looks pretty cool when you open the hood.

Fair warning though… my switch area isn’t exactly “show truck” clean because my aux horn setup lives there too 😂 So yeah, there’s a little wiring going on — but hey, loud horns > pretty engine bay.

Overall, really happy with this kit. If you ever work on your truck or just like functional mods that actually make sense, I’d definitely recommend it.

I’ll post some night pics soon too. Like always any and all questions are welcomed but I am not an employee so I will do my best to answer lol.

Outside of a show car, my knee-jerk reaction is that if I had to open the hood so often that I felt that built-in lighting is a worthwhile upgrade, then I should probably get a more reliable vehicle.

Granted I also spent several hours wiring auxiliary scene lighting in my topper that I have used for probably less than 3 hours of total runtime in the last 8 years. Suffice it to say, the next vehicle I get will just have a magnetic flashlight instead of hardwired lighting.

F150LED's website lists about 20 different versions of the engine bay lights. Can you post a link to the ones you purchased?

Remember the old 100 watt hot light hanging on an extension cord ? Always had to move it to look down in tight spots.
And you had to remember where to grab it so you don’t burn your hand ?
In its defense you could take it under the vehicle.

The LED light strips look cool but what about all the nooks and crannies?
The shadows.

I use one of these :

I’ve also got a very small one, for tight spots. Cost is negligible.
I get caught in a shadow, I move my head, no shadow.
Just saying,

A cheap alternative.

Hahaha
Try this !
I stuck a battery powered light up in the middle of my topper. It held Two ‘D’ cells,
Remember those?

The Florida heat, those two D cells leaked out and ruined my indoor outdoor carpet I so carefully cut and fit in my truck bed.

Live and learn right !

That is a very useful add-on. Too, it looks like you nailed the install.

Only issue is the price. $100 is a lot of coin for $24 in parts. Momentary adjustable pin switch (marine grade) can be had for $7 Dollars. Marine grade, flexible, LED strips in several lengths 4 pack is 8-13$. Wire is cheap and 2 terminations.

The hood struts? The hoods are the same between the models, and the person who suggested them has a hybrid. If no one gives you a specific link, search the forum and you will find what hybrid owners have installed.
