I think It's Calif gas (10% ethanol) and lots of idling. I don't drive with a led foot and very little highway. oh, and mostly short trips
Yeah, but the car doesn't sit there idling? In normal mode the engine shuts off most of the time it's sitting there

shoot I'm lucky to get 30.
But I'm still happy with it.
Drove Atlanta to Idaho (6,500 miles last 2 weeks) mostly 82-85 MPH on cruise and consistently got 37-39 MPG. I defiantly got significantly less MPG with gasoline purchased in Wyoming and Montana.

Day to day driving on interstates I save significant gas by using Cruise Control to keep the Hybrid as close as possible in the GREEN.

Most stations here sell 10% or higher ethanol, although some stations are Real gas only (no ethanol). I'm currently using 10% ethanol on my first tank and getting mid 40s on most drives. I may try a tank of Real gas eventually and see if there's any difference.

But you should be getting much better than 30. Something's wrong.

I also have larger tires, 245/60/18, I don't run them at 40 psi either, more around 34. The weather has been close to 100 every day, AC always on and I'm sure the battery needs to run lower to keep itself cool.
Anyway, ya, all these little things add up.
I hoping for a little better mpg now that it's cooling off.
