Hybrid mpg

Hybrid xl, zero options, ordered 8/27/21, received from dealer 8/3/22.
I’ve only had it two days, driving about 5 hours and 150 miles, but 48.7 mpg is impressive. Have not gone over 60mph yet, so mpg will go down, but seeing a number close to the gold standard Prius is pretty cool!!

Just like the Prius, the computer’s calculation of MPG may be high compared to paper calculations. Mine is off by around 10% just like the Prius was.

Ah yes!! Thank you. I have heard feedback that the computer is a bit optimistic and I need to calculate based on miles driven and gallons used (after a fill up) Thanks for the reminder.

However, it's possible your computer is UNDERreporting distance traveled. Mine (Lariat) is off by about 1.2% and if that's the case you can bump up the mpgs accordingly.

We're 3 months and ~2800 miles in, currently averaging 49.0mpg - this is with my lead-footed wife as the primary driver (average mpg goes up every time I drive). Not quite sure how accurate the on-board reading is, but we were already over 600 miles on the tank the only time I let it get below ~1/8 full. Certainly exceeding expectations.

I got around 38 per the computer in my first tank from the dealer. I reset the trip odometer, and it shows around 39 for this tank, but I'm going to calculate by hand myself when I refill. already nice not having to stop for gas every 2 days... I drive 60 miles to / 60 from work right now...

I've been averaging around 44mpg and I do mostly highway driving too. Running around town I can easily get into the low 60s. This thing is great!

Thanks! Great example early this week. I drove 12 miles form home to Sam's Club which is mostly highway (60mpg limit). The last mile and a half off the highway was pure electric and ended up at 61.5mpg.

52.1 on first tank. 51.0 on second tank.
It really depends on the type of roads you usually travel. Certain sections I habitually travel I know I will gain on my average MPGs, other stretches, I know I'm going to lose a couple.

Usually get. 43.2 consistently…but I have fun watching the ”hybrid coach screen”. Live in a hilly area and when I see coasting down hill if you have enough speed to not delay traffic behind you I completely take my foot off the gas peddle and coast and seems to make a difference. When I watch the coaching screen I have gotten 48 & 49 mpg several times. Always calculating manually.

I picked mine up on 8-3. XL Cp360 and hitch. 37 miles home with ac on avg 50mph. Showed 48.4mpg..

Seems to do best in normal mode, on a road with speeds from 35-50.

If you drive 50 mph you WILL get the Best gas mileage (providing you leave room for traffic to ride past you) .. the slower you drive the better mileage you get 55 is great too 60 not bad at all try it on your next trip... I leave mine in NORMAL mode not economy.
