This is a little concerning for us earlier Maverick owners.
Personally, I'm thrilled and I'll probably keep my '22 Hybrid longer now.

This is a real solution to a known issue, which all effected owners were notified of over a year ago.

Either this doesn't apply to you, or you're finally getting reassurance that Ford will stand behind their product.

I am thankful for the extended coverage, However it would be nice to have the issue addressed before it becomes a problem. If it is to happen it will happen at the most inconvenient place and time

I was trying to read and understand this new recall or as Ford is putting it, the "Customer Satisfaction Program". Since I see that alert on my app and did recently get those recalls "fixed" I assume my Maverick needs qualifies for this.
Questions:
1- Do I wait for the letter to arrive?
2- Do call my dealer and schedule this fix?
3- I've had no issues do I wait for the alert on my dashboard?

Recalls are to address safety/emission issues in compliance with Federal standards. A Customer Satisfaction Program is just extended service coverage in repairs for a specified issue.

If your engine isn't throwing DTCs that it detects the engine is preliminary to failure then you don't need to do anything.

So, what happens if the failure is such that it throws a rod before an error code, and the engine compartment catches fire?

What happens if it suddenly goes into limp mode on the freeway, and you get rear-ended?

What if you blow a tire on the turnpike next to a couple of 18 wheelers? That's over any car company's pay grade.
They will replace any broken engine if it fails, you stop and turn it off. And take it to a dealer in the next 10 years. Flying Boeing is more risky than riding my '22.

It is not even the same thing. We all understand random events can happen and will. However something happening from a known issue that is not being addressed is negligence.

This program is extended coverage. Nothing to do unless your Maverick exhibits the symptoms covered by the FSA:
Your vehicle may receive an illuminated Malfunction Indicator
Lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes P1061 and/or P032F and/or a

knocking noise from the engine.

Remember that it's only a 0.017% chance of having such a faulty engine.

how did you arrive at that percentage?

from the source: "US population of affected vehicles: 124,902"

the inverse of your percentage would be 734.7 million. without even a cursory glance at these models' sales figures, I am confident there are nowhere near that many vehicles produced in the date range.

True dat. But the FSA covers 124,902 vehicles because they don't know which of these have the poorly polished crank shafts. Those numbers are much lower.

It is not ideal that there are any known defects. But if your Maverick is one of the very few that had bad bearings/ crankshaft not polished properly - and the engine fails as a result - you have a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. I find this to be an improvement over a software update that simply reduces power of the engine if it detects a failure. No we know if that happens then the motor gets replaced even if it occurs past the normal 5 years/60,000 mile warranty.

More ideal - but probably too much to expect - is that Ford would simply extend the warranty on the engine for all models with this potential engine problem to 10 years/100,000 miles.

But it still gives owners some additional protection
It does give the owners who had the possibility of the bad parts earlier determined and required the software update (but not to those that did not require that update) the additional update. The wording appears to not give the additional warranty to anyone who failed to have the required software update which posts the new DTC's. The DTC's qualify dealerships to analysis truck free of charge to determine if failure was actually caused by the defective parts. I took some flack suggesting that bad gas might cause at least one of DTC's to be set. Note that example posted showing that low torque could set one of them. What if you got something like 84 or ? Octane gasoline and that caused knock and/or set the DTC. Dealer will check for actual reason DTC was set. Anyone with doubts can purchase the extended warranty or trade in for a 24 or 25. I have concern about the 3/36 warranty and would most likely trade in at the end of a 5/75 warranty but not a 3/36. Trade maybe after 4/60.

Ford's own numbers in the NHTSA filing estimated a rate of occurrence of 0.17 per 1000 vehicles.

Your inversing would be for Ford to have 124,902 engines fail.

True but it appears that to find those with the problem Ford would have to tear down all 124k+ engines. This is excellent news. I had originally purchased the 8/100 $100 deductable and because I have that I have all updates and service performed as required by that plan
