The Hybrid Maverick has had several more recalls, random loss of power before recalls, Axle problems, DC/DC converter problems, 12v battery/deep sleep problems/parasitic drain problems, etc. If you think this is worth getting 10 mpg better and saving $200 over the span of 10 years, you are coping and trying to justify your purchase. Maybe you won't run into these problems at all and maybe they will be fixed in the new model year (2025). Not to mention you can tow more in the ecoboost, the ecoboost has more power, the ecoboost has parts that can be replaced. If your hybrid motor or DC/DC converter goes bad, you will have to replace the entire thing. I personally don't like non serviceable (throw away) parts and relying on fords warranty. This is coming from someone who has previously owned and driven a Toyota highlander hybrid which was reliable and had 200k miles on it before selling it. Im not saying the hybrid is bad but it has definitely had more issues in comparison to the ecoboost... @Ozarkbeard @Ford Truck Guy @Waterick @huunvubu

What are you smoking !!!

The exact opposite is true for the Hybrid vs the EcoBoost.

Maintenance:

Brakes last longer on the Hybrid because the physical brakes not used as much because of Regenerative Braking.

Ice engine in a Hybrid also sees less use because of Electric Only mode and is a simpler engine than the Turbo on the EcoBoost which is more problematic.

Oil changes less frequent for Hybrid again because of less ICE engine running

No need to ever replace a Starter, Alternator, Serpentine Belt, Pulleys or AC clutches because the Hybrid has none of those

8 speed transmission on an EcoBoost is more complex than the eCVT in the Hybrid.

Those who have a Hybrid save on maintenance along with saving on gas purchases.
The 8 speed can be taken apart and parts can be replaced. When your ECVT goes bad, you will need to replace the entire transmission. Parts cannot be replaced on it. and you forgot to mention that those parts you listed "Starter, Alternator, Serpentine Belt, Pulleys or AC clutches" are replaced with the DC/DC converter which is very unreliable and has caused problems for several hybrid owners. and it cannot be taken apart and fixed. It can only be replaced. Your statement has many flaws. I hope you get an extended warranty because you will need it. CVTs are throwaway transmissions. Idk I guess you don't know much about them But yeah save those mpgs with your FWD and 2k towing. Reply back when you have over 200k miles on your hybrid and tell me if its still reliable or not.

ECO-butthurt by the hybrid? To each there own. One size does not fit all. I have had both and I am much more impressed with the hybrid. I think either drive system will well outlast the body on these trucks, at least in the northern states.

What your EcoBoost is only driving on the highway and never drives in a city.

Combined City/Highway MPG for the FWD only Ecoboost is 26 MPG and 25 MPG for the AWD.

So the AWD at 25 MPG will use 200 gallons or twice what the Hybrid uses at 50 MPG.
Instead of relying only on specs.... it's helpful to consider some who have an EcoBoost and drive in a way to encourage decent fuel economy? We exist.

In late June / early July we got 26.5 on two gas tanks when the temps were 109-110 and we kept remote starting the Maverick and letting it cool down before driving... That's the worst we've seen during our entire 6 month ownership. Mixed suburban/city/short highway driving is 30-32 as the monsoon rains are bringing temps at just 100degF or so... Our immediate neighborhood has many curves and hills (appropriately called Desert Hills). I did a full 60 mile highway round trip on saturday at 72-75mph (with a 3 mile slow down for a car accident mind you) and the Mav reported 35mpg. I have an AWD 4KTow Ecoboost.

When I drive up from Álamos Sonora to Green Valley AZ i usually only average 29-31... even though it's mostly highway. I attribute that to heavy vehicle weight (very loaded with household items, tools, pets, people), lots of slow downs and stops to drive through small villages (probably 10 of them), poor road surface conditions, high temperatures, and high speeds (75mpg+). One day I'd like to see that trip with just my wife and I and no gear... but hasn't happend yet.

Granted, I drive it bit gentler than the average person.. I do use EcoMode and I don't practice jacket rabbit launches at stop lights and stop signs. But lets me honest.. Most hybrid owners and driving a bit gentler as well as their focus is fuel economy. Maverick mileage is soo heavily influenced by weight and driving style.

Which one has the long warranty behind it? My guess is the one one with the most out of pocket repair cost will be the EB with its direct injected turbo and that 8 speed. Ford's hybrids in the past have been very good, I know the Maverick is off to a rough start but, the warranty should take care production/supplier failures.

So I love my hybrid but bought it when the Turbow cost $1500 extra. If I bought today (before 2025 details are released), I'd go Eco 4k. Excited to see what's tomorrow!

I would love to hear your logic behind having more faith in a CVT's longevity compared to a standard 8 speed transmission...

I'm waiting for Tim Bartz (Ford Video Guy) to put out a buyer's guide video for the '25 Maverick.

It is NOT A CVT.

It is an eCVT

You can learn about it here:
