I have a 2025 Hybrid. Has anyone noticed what I would call a welded "patch" looking from the rear. Also it seems that the final downturn is not long enough, It is about an 1" plus up over the bumper. I realize that this is under the bed so not much chance of Carbon Monoxide going

into the cab BUT why couldn't it be a little longer to clear the bumper so any exhaust build-up goes on out and is not collected on the inside of the bumper?

until recently checking out ford trucks, I'd never encountered a vehicle with both a muffler and a resonator that isn't a cadillac.

Several years ago, a friend helped me drop h exhaust on a 2002 Deville DHS (the absolute top of the line for the year).

Once it was down, he exclaimed, "no wonder these things are so quiet! Three mufflers!".

No, just a resonator before the split to twin mufflers and tailpipes

Ford has a long history of having quieter factory exhaust than their GM counterparts. I have a 25 year-old Ford that has muffler+resonator, so they've been doing it for at least that long.

That reminds me of the GM V6 exhaust in the 90's that sounded like complete ass (Lumina, Grand Prix).

Resonators are more common than you think. Even on cheap brands and older cars.

Even if the exhaust pipe stuck down 1 inch lower, it would still be dropping the exhaust out under back end of your car. The exhaust pipe would need to be another 9 inches longer in order to not emit the exhaust UNDER the car.

Hot air rises. And exhaust gas is hot. If the exhaust drops out under your car and it is hot, it’s just going to rise up and get trapped under your car, right? But that is not your primary concern. Why? Because the exhaust gas velocity moves it out from under the car.

So it doesn’t matter if the exhaust pipe ends 1” higher than the bottom of the bumper. The exhaust gas velocity is going to move all of it completely out from under your car.

I think the 1” higher than the bumper design is smart. For many years we put exhaust pipes out in the open, instead of being tucked away. And they always got smashed.

As hot as the exhaust gas is, then why is it not melting the plastic bumper parts under it?

Gee is that covered under Bump to Bumper warranty? I think and exhaust extension would help? Hope bumpers won't self-ignite if get too hot!!

Personally, I don’t worry about things like this. It is an edge case. If I decide I want to tow a 4k load up the Davis Dam grade at full throttle in 110 degree heat, then maybe I’ll revisit the issue. Otherwise, I’m not going to stress over it. I’ve got more important things in my life that need to be addressed on a daily basis.

Sounds like a DYI project to optimize this. Please give us the list of materials and pics. Extra points for super custom.
