If they had to drain the cooling system, it's possible that they did not fill it correctly. It's possible that they disconnected something and didn't properly connect it back.
I had an issue with my brand new Pontiac Tempest, after some minor front end body damage, no damage to the cooling system, but some welding had to be done on the repair. Car caught on fire two days after we got it back from the body shop. Fire started in the firewall dashboard area. Car was a write off, and no one could figure it out.

Howdy,

I picked up my Maverick from the Ford dealer yesterday after body repairs from a minor collision that sidelined the truck for four months after only three days of use. After ten miles the truck began slowing from 55 to 36 mph. A minute later, it resumed speed. Then a warning came up on the display and it began slowing again. I pulled over, raised the hood and shut the truck off as the next message said the engine had overheated. It was only 82° F and I wasn't working the truck at all.

While waiting for the engine to cool off I called the dealer and they gave me the number for roadside assistance. An hour on the phone and being told it would be another 45 minutes before a tow truck would show, I restarted the truck and turned on the engine with no faults but a check engine light. I drove a couple of miles to a store with the AC on and the engine overheated again as I pulled in for a cold drink. I remembered in my teenage years that I could turn the heat on and keep an engine cool enough to get me to where I needed to go. That's what I did and drove it back to Ford for service.

Well gee, in four and a half months, I got to drive my truck four days and 450 miles. I'm waiting on the dealer now and have no ETA or explanation. I'm disgusted! Do y'all have any idea wth is going on with this pos?

I remember my 67’ ford fairlane overheating and using the heater to cool it! Then the heater core failed and rusty water was all over the floorboard😡

Coolant should be the same color in both coolant tanks. Hopefully they did not mix two different coolant types which could cause problems later. Did they use a vacuum type of coolant system filler when they filled it back up. This is the recommended way of making sure all the air is out. If it truly caused overheating, you may be looking at future heat gasket problems.

I picked up the pickup yesterday and was told the coolant was low. When I looked, the reservoir was between MIN & MAX. I would assume the tech forgot to add coolant before I picked up the truck or failed to burp it?

I only saw two reservoirs under the hood that day, though it was hot and I was upset. One has green fluid in it and the other is pink. I put 70 miles on the truck to check it out and it seems fine now.
These are the two that you say have different color coolant in them? I hadn't noticed the dual coolant reservoir before so just went out to take a look at mine:

For 2022 the coolant is all the same color. YELLOW

They are only separate because they operate at different temperatures.

The engine loop normally runs at 185°F to 215°F. Obviously you don't want that running through your battery and electronics. The battery/electronics loop runs at ambient to about 120°F.

There is a third loop for cabin heat and transmission that runs 125°F to 145°F but there is no separate filler cap or reservoir. It is a side loop from the engine loop with valves IIRC.

I just put the picture in there to make sure the OP was talking about these and to verify they were indeed two different colors on his.

Ok I am confused, I own a 23 Hybrid. Does this "pointer" indicate that the temp was in the middle? Is the icon on the left always red?

Yes, pointer indicates middle/normal temp. But the icon is not normally red.

I believe it's supposed to be white. By it being red indicates that there is or was a problem. Sometimes a code has been set that must be cleared with a scan tool. Until then the temp may read correctly. But the indicator may still be red.

thank you, So could what Robot-Wrangler was seeing is that the engine temp was fine but the battery temp was high? Which system had the wrong fluid in it?

Only if the dealer replaced the front end after the wreck. I am betting a third party autobody repair shop messed this up, wrong coolant, bad sensor, plugged loop.
