Like where this is going.
Keep in mind that the old school f150 lightning was shorter and narrower than the Maverick. It also weighed a lot more but had the same amount of power. And the Lightning was a stud back in the day.

No direct shots yet, but for a rough indirect comparison here's the current vs old Ranger, and 2022 Maverick vs current Ranger.

Would seem that the Mav is pretty much the spiritual successor to the old ranger, then. Sure, this time around we lose the BOF construction and RWD layout, but we get a lot more power, better fuel economy, more refinement and the peace of mind that you won't be crushed like a grape in an accident.

Pictures on Reddit of a Maverick next to a '93 Toyota truck that are very interesting. Bed on Toyota looks big / long with the regular cab of the Toyota but overall the Maverick looks great size wise compared to the Toyota's body!

Here's a YouTube video where a father/son team compared the Maverick against a 2003 Ranger, in exterior and interior dimensions, driving, etc.

I'll getcha one when/if my truck arrives, I'll be trading in my old Ranger. I've seen some photos online, but don't recall where, but was struck by how similarly sized they seemed to be. I do know having been in both that the interior of the Mav is absolutely cavernous next to the Ranger, which is downright cramped. Can't wait to upgrade.
