If I have to pay for an engine I want the 2.3 Corsair motor. Is fast maverick the only one who's done the swa? He said everything swapped right over in one of his posts.

I know these some issues with the company at the moment and I don't want to hear about that.

Fyi my engine had a slight missing occasionally on the way to work. On the way home it was there. So I babied it. Then all a sudden all I got was misfire cylinder 2 error codes. Got home and check the spark plugs and the ground strap has broken off into the engine.

I don't think I'm in my warranty period anymore.

If your under 60,000 miles, still covered under the Powertrain Warranty.

If you had an 'occasional' misfire, why didn't you investigate it sooner?

I doubt the engine 'blew up' if a ground electrode broke off a spark plug, which is also highly unusual and suspect.

There's more to this story. Mods?

The trouble with the “J” strap coming off (if it didn’t damage the cylinder or valves and seats) would be exiting through the turbo and giving turbine wheel a working over.
Having said that I would replace the plug and see if that fixes the problem.
If warranty does not cover it under the Drivertain warranty. It’s worth asking the dealer or local Ford rep.

Depending on the plug it might have just completely burned off if it was a cheap plug. Possibly burned through the system and blown out the turbo if it survives the heat.
mom with Guv on this one. Replace the plug and see what happens. Only time a j tip of the plug would come off is if you are gapping them and bend too hard back and forth.

I'm with Todd92, not sure why you had a misfire and didn't get it checked out while you were still under warranty. Hopefully you are just under 60k miles. Personally I wouldn't go for the 2.3, I would just find a used 2.0 out of a totaled vehicle. Mavericks get totaled very easily from minor accidents so I would think you could find a used one with low mileage fairly easily.

At this point in time. I don't think Ivan FastMavericks is even an option.
I agree a 2.0 should be available from a Maverick that has been rear-ended.
From dash swaps to cam swaps, you seem to really want that Corsair 2.3. Go for it.
Good Luck

assuming the misfire is setting a DTC that is not something that you ever ignore. that's a stop driving as soon as it's safe, tow it, investigate and diagnose properly. but anyway, here were are.

the corsair 2.3 sold in very, very low numbers compared to any other 2.3 ecoboost, but it does have the turbo mounted in such a way that it's easily adapted to the Maverick. other 2.3 blocks would work but I would not expect the turbo plumbing to mate up at all without fabricating your own up and downpipes.

I would probably look for a 19+ 2.0 in a salvage yard. there are going to be far, far more of those than corsair 2.3s.

a maverick 2.0 is a sure thing, other donors should mostly work but it's certainly possible some brackets etc are different but you would be able to scavenge from your stock engine.

Turns out that a lot of "totaled" cars/trucks of all makes are being auctioned off and going to Georgia (country), quickly repaired with no pesky safety requirements and resold around their neighboring countries. A large portion going to eastern European countries.
