Yes if you don’t have a bed liner. If you do have a bed liner, it can serve as the plastic between the paint and the hooks.

I don't have a bed liner. That and the attachment system were going to be restraints, so I dropped them. I don't plan on hauling anything heavier that groceries. If I need to haul a big load, I'll buy my brother a six pack!

Thanks for sharing a great idea.; it provides plenty options for securing loads.

Ford's modular liner is also a great alternative to the more expensive SIBL & will be my next mod investment. (After my FordPass Rewards points & dealer discount, I'll pay ~$155. ) Plan to DIY the installation. Good to know the bolt hole locations are marked on the back of the side panels.

I actually think these are better than the rail system.

Yes I don’t see why not. They’re screwed in and you have 7 on total. You can use all 7 to secure your bike.

I would recommend reading the owner's manual about how to properly secure loads. In addition, the rail system spreads any force across multiple attachment points and not just one- if you're not careful you'll end up with a bent truck bed where one of those hooks gets pulled hard...

I installed these too and use friction straps instead of ratchet straps. My thinking (hoping?) is that'll keep me from doing any damage.

Yeah I think the people talking about bending the truck bed are over thinking it in my opinion. Sure if you plan on loading a few thousand pounds of stuff very high, then you might want to consider if this is be too much. But I really don’t think people who buy mavericks are going to use this little truck to haul big stuff. But hey if have $420 go ahead and get the stuff from Ford. I shared this to give people who want to tie down so pieces of 2x4s, plywood, boxes, etc you know the average home stuff for small projects, these ring bolts will work great.

Eye bolts are fine only for straight pulls or loads. Any deviation from a straight angle and an eye bolt will lose significant strength. a much better option would be to use swivel hoist rings. they are costly but will have better performance. https://www.mazzellacompanies.com/learning-center/eye-bolts-vs-swivel-hoist-rings/

It's good to take @Ole cat man warning about lifting weights with eye bolts and since there is so much difference in weight ratings use caution lifting. M8 - 600# to 900# with crappy imports being less, even much less. Reading reviews some even fail being tightened, don't tighten them like a bolt. Tightening these eye bolts will pre load the bolt and will reduce their weight (tension) rating.

For ratchet straps don't get crazy cranking them down, be aware of the angles and you should be good. A 1" ratchet strap can generate approx 400# of pull, long lever ratchets much more.

Reduction In Maximum Weight Capacity By Angle Of Pull (Degrees) for lifting.
5° = full weight capacity (100% of load)
15° = weight capacity reduced by 20%
30° = weight capacity reduced by 35%
45° = weight capacity reduced by 70%
46°+ = not safe to use an eye bolt; consider a hoist ring instead

Oh, gee whiz…another idea to consider.
When we got our RV, found myself getting more and more stuff, spending more $$ for modifications, improvements or easier RV’ing. Finally, I had to stop, and go camping!

This actually makes a lot sense. The extra metal helps strengthen the bed and reduces the risk of bending if excess pressure is applied when the tie down are used.
