I swear it's like everyone forgot how to drive rwd one wheel peel on Bias Ply tires. That or they are too young to have ever truly "driven". Newer cars all have so much tech to help with winter driving, and half the people saying they can't drive without AWD. Truth be told many of them can't drive with AWD either, judging be the amount always in the ditches after a snowstorm. When I got my license almost no one had AWD or even FWD.
My dad told me that 4WD doesn't keep you out of the ditch; it just gets you out of the ditch. And in Alabama, if there is snow there is an inch of ice underneath. So, I just stay home until it melts later that day.

So, someone help me understand. VINs aren’t produced sequentially? They’re all over the place, I’m 39xxx on 2/19 and there’s 50xxx in January. I had no idea!

I worked on a Ford assembly line for 30 years and actually at one time had the job pulling the invoices as the cars moved down the line and they are never in sequential order by VIN. Earlier builds in the years tend to have lower VINs but exactly how the VINs are assigned I have no idea.

I like in Michigan, it snows here some too, I have never had anything other than one or two wheel drive other than my current 4 wheel drive wrangler. 45 years, I have never got stuck in the snow. The only time I engage the 4 wheel drive is to launch or recover my boat. It's just not necessary even with 6" or a foot of snow. For me 2 wheel drive isn't an issue.
Same here in Mid Michigan, 2 WD 2014 Escape 2.0, no issues in snow.

Dealers are lined up based on randomness. They get one truck scheduled per round. Number of rounds depends on allocations.
  • Dealer A has a truck that can be scheduled; gets VIN 01. Parts for that truck won't be available until week 3.
  • Dealer B has a truck than can be scheduled; gets VIN 02. Parts will be available week 1. Therefore, VIN 02 gets built two weeks before VIN 01.
  • Repeat until schedule is full.
Thus you have sequentially scheduled VINs that are not scheduled to be built sequentially.

I am really surprised that my build date is in early January. I was just hoping at an outside of chance of even being scheduled when I saw the Ford bulletin the other day!

I am both excited and nervous. I regret not placing an order for this truck back in 2021. I am really glad I have a chance to buy one. I am going to be selling my 2020 Ridgeline Sport AWD to my co-worker. He has been eagerly awaiting updates regarding my Maverick. I won't be taking out any loans to purchase the Maverick, as I have been saving money in anticipation of this truck.

I am nervous about dealership antics. I have been practicing my negotiation tactics in preparation for the dealership shenanigans (thank you Chris Voss). I really want to believe the sales manager I have worked with is a down-to-earth guy. However, I have bought too many vehicles where I know better. I am fully prepared to fight for my Maverick.

It has been discussed on the threads before but there are few thing that need to happen for the correct priory. You need to contact your dealer at this point it took me over two months to get mine corrected and I had to go to the general manager of the entire dealership and even then they told me it couldn’t be done after I wrote a bad review on Google by some miracle it got done! You want to make sure your priority is correct for a few reasons one you want to be scheduled sooner but also, if things were not done correctly, you may not get your private offer. Look at your order sheets and compare them. The issue for mine was that they submitted my order with my middle name on one and not on the other and that caused mine not to get the correct priority and the sales and inventory specialist, for my region had to correct it and my dealership had to request it. It won’t happen at this point unless you put some effort in. After my priority was corrected I got scheduled during the next round of scheduling. Good luck!
I have already tried all this and talked with dealer, ford chat, ford marketing, and ford customer service. Have also filed a complaint. Ford says I have the private offer. What I don't get is the orders less than 6 months old are getting scheduled with priority 10 and mine at 03 is getting left out.

Last month Bill said he’d zero luck getting the dealer to have him moved up to a 2, which requires a phone call by his dealer or sales manager to regional ford corporate. Dealer told him he couldn’t. Plainly wrong info. Dealer also told him they had 10 allocations and 10 orders. Also sounds like a lie since his XL didn’t get scheduled.

There are at least a few partial truths in the story because it doesn’t add up. Dealers like his should have consequences for what they do to people but instead they get rewarded with a desirable vehicle they can mark up and put on the lot.

Times have changed and the only reason many dealers like Bills are still in business is because generations ago they had laws made to require manufacturers to use them.
For now @Bill Quattlebaum is the one that has to pay, not his dealer.
