‘22 vs ‘23 vs ‘24 Appearance

There is one sure way to know for sure which year it is despite any changes that may have been made by the owner or by Ford mid-year--look at the VIN in the windshield. The 10th character is the year--N for 2022, P for 2023, and R for 2024.

It's not easy to find the 10th character just looking at it from a distance, it may be easier to locate the 8th character from the right. The year indicator will always be follow by an R for Hermisillo Plant for Mavs and Bronco Sport.

2024 Lariat trim has black side mirror caps - prior years were painted body color.
2022-23 steering wheels in XLT w/Lux and all Lariats were leather - 2024 is pleather.

The First Editions had black mirror caps too - but the rest of the package should make it obvious it's a FE and not a 24.

I also got rid of my 2023 and kept my 2022.I did trade my 2023 for a 2024 Terrain Lariat AWD/FX4. When they ordered my 2023 they left off ADC and BLIS.MY 2022 Lariat has every option you could order and I AM very pleased with and have8000 miles on it.THE 2024 FULLY LOADED LARIAT is my wifes and she lover the new color.

2024 Lariat trim has black side mirror caps - prior years were painted body color.

To add to this, 2022 and 2023 XLTs with the Luxury package also had colour matched side mirror caps. Believe that is not the case for MY24 (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Only if you're ready for a logic puzzle and looking at minor details, mostly based on changes to trim/package offerings:

• Packages
  • First Editions (black roof and hood stripe with first edition decals, among some other details) were MY22 only
  • Tremor and Black Appearance Package were released MY23, so they can't be a MY22
• Interior
  • Leather wrapped steering wheel is a MY22 lux package (XLT or Lariat)
  • XL with no cruise control is MY22
• Other
  • Lariat FWD EB is MY22 - had to have AWD for EB Lariat starting MY23
• Exterior
  • There will be no pillar keypad on MY24 XLT and Lariat
  • SIBL is required on MY24 Lariat, so a Lariat without it is MY22 or MY23
  • Moonroof on XL is MY22 only
  • Manual Rear Sliding Window is MY22 or MY23 only
  • Windshield w/ wiper deicer (logo on the glass can help identify) would be a lux package in MY22 or MY23
  • FX4 with no AWD badge is MY24
  • Lariat with black mirror caps instead of body color is MY24 (FE also have black, but the rest of the package makes it obvious it's a FE)
• Paint Colors:
  • Rapid Red and Velocity Blue were MY22 Only
  • Avalanche Grey (Tremor Only) is M23 only
  • Atlas Blue Metallic is MY23 and MY24
  • Area 51, Alto Blue, and Cyber Orange are MY22 and MY23 only
  • Carbonized Grey Metallic or Iconic Silver Metallic on an XL (non-fleet) are MY22 or MY23 only
  • Azure Metallic Grey and Terrain are MY24 only

And there's more than that, but that's what I can think of off the top of my head.

At a quick glance or passing on the road or whatever, it's pretty much going to only be the one-year exclusive colors that will give you an answer immeditately without some other type of closer look.
