I absolutely agree that Ford should be fixing it, and that we shouldn’t need to disable features. However, until Ford does the right thing, we’re stuck with either having dead trucks have their batteries replaced frequently under warranty, hooking the flooded battery up to a tender frequently, replacing the battery with an AGM on our own dime, or disabling features. To some the cost of an AGM is an issue, there are some who don’t need/want/miss the features, others don’t mind hooking up a tender every so often, and there are some that don’t mind the hassle of taking the truck in for replacements or having a mobile tech do the work. To each their own…..

It sucks that we have multiple threads here on an issue that has taken years for Ford to recognize and hopefully provide a fix for. Fingers crossed this is the fix so we can all enjoy our Mav’s as they were intended to be And in the manner we choose.
Agreed.

To anyone coming across this thread, those features are not worth a dead truck. Turn them off. And uninstall the application from your phone too.

And put in an AGM battery. Again, $200 and an hour of work is well worth preventing you from waking up to a dead truck.

I did both and have fingers crossed it will work.

I do agree that hooking a new truck up to a trickle charger is ridiculous. Having said that, I will probably keep doing it weekly until the software fix comes out (was doing so every night before putting in the AGM).

If that is what it takes for you to feel comfortable, by all means go for it, but honestly, living up in Wisconsin, where we’ve had some near zero days already, I haven’t seen the need to go to that extreme. I have just put in the plug-and-play H4 sized AGM and haven’t noticed voltage issues or had anything other than the occasional dome lights not come on if it sits longer than around 5 days. About 15 minutes or so off local driving does just fine to keep the AGM battery charged.

I use a NOCO periodically and have disconnected fuse#11. No battery issues, ever, including no dome lights. But if my OEM battery dies before the Ford fix, in '25, I'ma spring for an AGM replacement.

Two things I hate; battery problems and flats.

Pulled fuse 11, removed fordpass since I started getting notifications / no done lights. So far so good. I'll wait to see what the fix is.

Battery saver feature has got to be the dumbest thing I have ever seen listed on a window sticker. Let's just say it's very confidence uninspiring and the dumb feature is still listed on the 25s !

I turned off telematics in Sync, uninstalled FordPass on my phone.

Still lose dome lights.
Not surprising. Your hybrid needs an AGM battery and the upcoming software fix.

You gotta pull that fuse. Turning off has no leaking because most likely your truck still send stuff back to Ford without you knowing it

Ford contacts your truck once/day for about half a second. That's a very, very small loss of power. Leave the fuse in and stop worrying about it. Instead, you have a sulphated battery that needs to be replaced.

Unless the TCU gets stuck in some loop...Anyways been a few days and so far no issues.

I hear you! But I'd just say that none of the FordPass features are that important (to me). Honestly, the only thing I ever used the application for was seeing "battery saver mode" notifications. And seeing the notification never helped me stop the battery from dying when it did.

I'd argue that even if you do find the features helpful (you remote start your truck or unlock via your phone), you may still want to weigh-up if it's worth the risk. Some data from quite a few people that turning off all that stuff has helped.

Having said that, I totally agree that the best thing to do is install an AGM. Next best is trickle until the software fix comes out.

What's actually interesting is the advance notice wording. Step 1 is to do a power reset. It's almost as if that is a temporary fix before they issue software.

Some 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles equipped with 2.5L full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) powertrain may
experience an intermittent 12V battery drain condition when the ignition is turned off. If the 12V battery drains,
perform a 12V power reset to the vehicle by disconnecting the 12V battery negative cable for 5 minutes. Fully
charge the 12V battery and use the Rotunda GRX-3590 or DCA-8000 tester to determine if replacement is
needed. If replacement is needed, fully charge the new battery and perform a battery monitor sensor (BMS)
reset. Engineering is currently working on a software solution for this condition that is expected in the first
quarter of 2025. Monitor OASIS for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers
once the repair becomes available.

I have posted this work order elsewhere, performed on my 23 hybrid. It's been a while since I went into deep sleep. It's could be the fix or it was an isolated issue. They had my rig for 26 days, were in contact with Ford and they gave me a Mach-e as loner, so much fun driving that. Maybe it will help those of you who fully understand what it's saying.
Ford Maverick FINALLY!! An upcoming 12v battery fix for hybrids!!! 20240809_115728

So they replaced the TCU ?
Few days ago I came across some on eBay and they have a nice sticker on them (scrap is dropped). Could many of us have dropped TCUs ?

Anyways they weren't sure so just started unplugging stuff. Parasitic drain is hard to find when it is intermittent which they are working on a fix for.
