I'm not certain this is the right subforum for this, so please move it if it fits better somewhere else.

In another thread, I had a discussion with someone where they referred me to the MyKey part of the user's manual (around page 66) for instructions for how to program additional keys. Since my 2025 is (hopefully) in a railcar rolling its way to me as I type, the only manual I have is the online one here: https://www.ford.com/support/vehicle/maverick/2025/owner-manuals/. And the word MyKey appears absolutely zero times in it. The whole MyKey section is just... gone.

However, yesterday when I was playing around with the Ford website, following links out of the section all about my incoming 2025 truck, I found this page: https://www.ford.com/support/how-tos/keys-and-locks/mykey/how-do-i-use-mykey/ all about how to use MyKey to create keys that limit the drivers speed and whatnot.

So anyone know what's up with this? Does the 2025 have MyKey functionality and Ford just removed the information from the user's manual either accidently or deliberately? Or was this functionality removed from the 2025's for some reason and then Ford made an error linking through to it from the 2025 owner's web page?

Thanks.

As HRG said above ford dropped mykey from their vehicles going forward to save costs "since barely anyone uses it". Out of curiosity what did / would you have used it for? I have it in my escape and never messed with it.

The discussion was about getting a blank and programming a third key rather than paying a dealer to do it. That was apparently in the MyKey section of previous manuals.

@fordvideoguy Hey, Tim, any insight into whether Ford has removed MyKey from the '25 Mavericks. It's no longer listed in the manual (based on the online version) but if you follow the Owner Registration link on the Ford order tracking page, you get to this very specific 2025 Maverick page:

Ford Maverick MyKey - Missing from the 2025 manual but on the web page? 1734634557914-o3

Which then has this box:

Ford Maverick MyKey - Missing from the 2025 manual but on the web page? 1734634696981-2n

No it wasn't, at least not the 24MY, and I couldn't actually find it under 23 either.
Other posts showing the info merely referenced the MyKey because I don't think they had it either.
Those are NOT correct instructions actually.

That info on making new keys is found in forums or online instructions or Ford.
The process is rather simple, and has been given in several threads.

And more specific for the Lariat's.

Thank you. I saved the thread because I'd kind of like to have a third key on hand.

I don't see it listed on the order guide for any model year. But I could be missing it.

I think you might be misunderstanding how the MyKey function works. It is not to program an extra key yourself. It is to program one of the keys as a MyKey with limitations for young drivers. The volume can't go over a certain volume. If they don't put their seatbelts on, the radio won't work. Limit on speed to 65, 70, 75 mph. Stuff like that.

Yep. The main issue is that speed restriction is a little too loose. I've had to remind my kids there is zero reason for their speedometer to ever cross 50 while driving to/from school or around town. So, a speed limitation of 65 is already crossing over into "reckless driving" stage. I just use Life360 and State Farm to monitor their driving and have set consequences for poor habits.

Maybe it's in the online manual only? I finally found the thread that mentioned using MYKey to create admin keys and that poster referred to the 24 online manual with links to it. https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/extra-key-and-fob.58304/post-984394. Looking back at the thread though, I think I was misunderstanding. I made reference to a valet key which led to the MyKey comment, but I thought I was being told that MyKey was how you took a cut-but-unprogrammed key and made an additional admin key. My bad.

Online manuals is what I searched. That's how I provided the info in that post, which was indeed about MyKey info at the time.
They say fob programming or key programming go to dealer.
Ford's official site says the same.

Some dealer's own sites listed the process though, besides our excellent post.
And some youtube videos.

And no, there was some misunderstanding in that thread by several. I was trying to find process to post again, because I figured it was in the manual. Figures not, Ford supporting the dealer to make some extra money.

A competent locksmith with the right equipment can cut The metal key part of a fob/key purchased online. Programming is easily done by the truck owner, unless they want to pay big bucks and let a Ford dealership do what the owner can do in a couple of minutes or less.

I looked at the online manual for 2025. The Keys and remote controls section followed by the My Key section was rewritten to show the different fobs and how to program them etc. APPARENTLY the MyKey 6 pages which made reference to admin keys in 2022 manual and immediately followed the rewritten section GOT OMITTED from the manual. my guess.

Basically what I want to do is create a key that will unlock the driver's door and start the car, but not open anything else (like the tailgate). If it limits the car to 45 MPH, that would just be bonus cookies. That lets me have a key to give to a valet if I ever use one and I can still have things locked in the bed that the valet can't get to.
