A few days ago, someone posted the procedure that did involve using the first two keys and then could insert the "new" key and program it. I do not remember which thread.I do it all the time. Helps to have a locksmith company LOL. If it is a Larait using key fobs then you need a programmer. The other keys I believe you can cycle the two existing then the third to add it but I would have to verify that.
I found thread "KEY REPLACEMENT" someone posted procedure!A few days ago, someone posted the procedure that did involve using the first two keys and then could insert the "new" key and program it. I do not remember which thread.
Please share with us how to "shut off power." In my Maverick, pushing the start button again only generates a message that "full accessory power is on".It is very easy to program a third key...Especially on hands-free push button start...center console, lift out the cardboard bottom and you will see and indentation in the plastic. Put first programmed key in slot and push button to power up, but NO FOOT on brake, after 3-5 seconds, shut off power. Remove first key and put second key in same spot and do same procedure, then finally do same for third key - if programming works, you will get a key programmed message in the message center...I did it for an old key for a totaled vehicle I had, works fine...![]()
To power up or power down, you just push the 'start' button, but WITHOUT YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE! Like turning on accessory power...Please share with us how to "shut off power." In my Maverick, pushing the start button again only generates a message that "full accessory power is on".
Does NOT work that way in my Maverick Lariat (RKE, etc.): First button push (no brake) turns on power, second button push (no brake) produces an orange box message on the display "Full Accessory power is now on. Press OK". Can't find any action that turns power off other than waiting 5 minutes and opening drivers' door, removing key fob from vehicle. Is there something else?To power up or power down, you just push the 'start' button, but WITHOUT YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE! Like turning on accessory power...

Thank you! Will try it today. BTW: How does one "enable the spare key programming"? There does not seem to be a menu item in the vehicle to do that.per workshop manual...
Programming
NOTE: This procedure works only if the spare key programming is enabled.
NOTE: Two previously programmed keys are required to perform this procedure. All the steps must be completed within 30 seconds.
NOTE: Make sure all the doors are closed prior to beginning this procedure and they remain closed until the procedure is complete.
- Locate the passive key backup starting location. Refer to the Owner Literature for the passive key backup starting location.
- Place the first programmed passive key in the backup starting location. Press the START/STOP button.
- Wait 5 seconds and then press the START/STOP button.
- Remove the first previously programmed passive key.
- Within 10 seconds, place the second previously programmed passive key in the backup starting location and press the START/STOP button.
- Wait 5 seconds and press the START/STOP button.
- Remove the second previously programmed passive key.
- NOTE: See the Owner's Literature for maximum number of keys that can be programmed to the vehicle.
Wait 5 seconds and then place the unprogrammed passive key in the backup starting location and press the START/STOP button.- NOTE: If the key does not successfully program, wait at least 10 seconds before attempting to repeat the procedure.
Verify the RKE transmitter operates and the vehicle starts using the new passive key.- I had to try a few times before actually worked, when is complete and done properly, will give a message in the message center says properly done...
- don't forget that all doors need to be CLOSED, I think that was part of my problem too...
I am guessing there is a way with Forscan to disable it for fleet companies, but is automatically enabled for customer bought vehicles...I did not have to do anything other than the procedure - remember, if it doesnt work the first time, pause and try again...good luckThank you! Will try it today. BTW: How does one "enable the spare key programming"? There does not seem to be a menu item in the vehicle to do that.
Apologies for the long winded question for you. Would that still work if you only had one key?It is very easy to program a third key...Especially on hands-free push button start...center console, lift out the cardboard bottom and you will see and indentation in the plastic.
