I may have misunderstood, but I thought he said that vehicles wiyh Sync 3 are not affected. I just bought a 2024 XLT with 4k Tow and Copilot, picked it up on 11/21/24. I think it has Sync 3 system.

I wonder if the dealer was not supposed to sell the truck ?
Your XLT does not have Sync 3.

You lucked out by ONE day. They expanded the recall on 11/22.

Mr Ford

My truck has a camera recall. Now I know why I drove into the wall and damaged my bumper. The camera showed there was quite a distance from the wall, but there wasn’t. Bang into the wall I went. The camera froze, but the screen showed there was a distance from the wall.

It took you quite a long time to realize you had a problem.

Are you going to replace my bumper, or say it was my fault when your camera froze and is defective?
Who you talking to? Yes it's your fault, damn use your mirrors or turn your head and look.

Real information about the 22-24 Maverick Rear Camera Recall and the 2025 Maverick Delayed Shipping

thank you for sharing all the info you get on the Mavericks.

what do you recommend doing if a dealer sold my ordered Maverick on 11/22 but did not let me take it home?

they did the paperwork, took my trade, and cashed my check (for the entire remaining balance) and now i have no vehicle. they gave me a ride home and said they'd check with Ford at the start of the following week to see if there was a software update / fix available yet, and would provide me a loaner if it'd be an extended period of time. after nearly a week of asking the sales rep, i just heard back from him today that the service manager said there are no loaners currently available (and other customers are also waiting for them).

the dealer seems like a good one and i don't want to get them in trouble if it's not legal to sell a vehicle with recall, though i also don't want to be without a vehicle for much longer. can a dealer work with Ford to get more vehicles on the loaner program? or can they work with Ford to give me an upgrade (at no additional cost) to another new AWD / 4wd vehicle that's properly set up to tow at least 4000 lbs like my Maverick is?

Hey Tim, can you please share more details on what’s involved with a ‘Quality Hold’? Does Ford build a few vehicles specifically for quality/torture testing, or do they test a sample of vehicles that have been built for dealers/customers? Thanks!

They should not have taken your vehicle away, either the deal is done and the Maverick is yours or they didn't process the sale and you should still be in your vehicle. I would be going off on your dealer if that was any of my family members. Back out of the deal. At least call Ford Complaint Line and start a compliant on them.

They build them and they go in a holding lot until they feel comfortable that the quality is good and no issues with build quality and then they are fixed or shipped.

Sorry if my original question wasn't clear. How does Ford determine the quality is good? They must be quality/torture testing some vehicles (ours or theirs)? Otherwise, just letting them sit in a parking lot would be a waste of time. Thanks for everything you do for the club!

Is ford paying for damages for the camera not working?
if so i have a bill they can pay for ,plus a rear bumper they can replace.

I'm not sure if this is the same for Ford as it is for Toyota, but I've been to the Toyota plant where they make the Camry and some other vehicles. When the car comes off the line, it runs into an inspection area with a lot of lighting. There they go over the fit and finish and paint and have a checklist. They open doors, trunk, hood, etc. They do a torque test on a lugnut, and some other checks, then an inspector hops in and drives it around. They have kind of a big warehouse at the end of the facility and a huge door that opens up to a back parking lot type area, they drive around and I am sure have a set list of checks to use (blinker works, brakes work, acceleration works, etc) and then it gets brought over to the lot where it will be shipped from.

Now they do torture testing of course on vehicles and components as well. Not everyone's of course, but you sometimes see new pre-production vehicles out and about with the camouflage trying to hide what's underneath if it's a major redesign that's not out yet. And they'll run an engine in torture tests, or seats in torture tests (I always think of Tommy Boy there), etc.

Lol. Seems to be working well for them. Can't sell 2024's and the 2025's are on a six week quality hold. I thought "At Ford, Quality is Job 1"?
Never enough time to do it right but always time to do it over.🤔
