I've actually been doing this since I got my Lincoln MKZ a couple of years ago. Once upon a time, I hid a spare key for my house in a magnetic holder stuck beneath my fuse box (breaker box, whatever), but had to change that for - uh, reasons. My epiphany was to use my Lincoln which had a keypad entry built into the door pillar. Place a spare key in the center console, and: viola!

I just added redundancy to that strategy by installing the keyless entry keypad on my Maverick. You know, just in case one or the other vehicle isn't in my driveway -- unlikely, but hey.

PS
Yeah, yeah... Ford Pass will accomplish the same thing. Get off my back "technically correct" folks; I prefer the (slightly) faster keypad access.

PSS
Actually, I have one of those gee-wiz dead bolt keypads on my front door, so the likelihood of me even needing a key is diminished accordingly. So yeah, I'm way over thinking my personal home entry impediments.

For those of us who don't have a keypad, but sprung for the $100 hitch option... the above works great too. I added a spare house key in addition to a non-fob Mav key.

That's an outstanding alternative.

What if the vehicle isn’t home?
Well, in my case, that's not a concern. To be fair though, that's a good reason to have an on-premises option. I didn't mention it in my original post, but if I did that would have been...

"PSSS I still have an alternate on-premises hidden key location. Decades of IT employment have taught me that there is no such thing as over redundancy."

Have you ever seen someone demonstrate just how fast those can be picked? Less time than it took me to wright this sentence, let alone both

Unless you're texting while at the urinal which I highly discourage for hygiene reasons.
Would that be PUS?

Nope. I assume most people don't even know what it is with the cover on it.

Truck's got insurance. No address on the house key and not obvious with the street parking.
Maybe I'll reevaluate, but my stuff isn't worth stealing compared to more expensive neighborhood :-D
