Recommendations for truck bed cover?

Anyone know of sources for reasonably priced truck bed covers for 2024 Maverick Hybrid (it's a short bed). I have never had a truck before and know nothing about what is the best(hard, soft, etc) and for what uses. Right now truck is basic transportation and have not used bed for anything besides groceries. TIA!

We are happy after 2 years so far with our trux soft roll up cover.

I bought mine for security #1 . go to multiple grocery stores and ect . so it was folding tri-fold up for me . undercover armour tonneau was my choice ( about $900 at realtruck with mtc discount 28 months ago ) . Folds up out of way to haul multiple material . It does block back window when all three panels are up but not a problem for me .

Be advised some cheaper hard bed covers advertised as tri-fold are actually Bi-Fold. In truth they are Tri-panel as they have 3 panels, but only 2 hinges only being able to fold twice. Hence Bi-fold.
If you have something tall and long like a TV and need full access to the bed. You open and fold twice. Securing the 2 panels on top of the third with the clips provided and then remove all three panels.
I know, I have one.

For my situation. Even though it only folds twice the security of a hard bed cover outweighs the vulnerability of a soft tonneau cover.

Yep, exactly, there’s been a multitude of threads/posts on the subject over the years.
To the OP, it depends on your use case/preferences/budget.
IMO Soft covers are fine for general needs/purposes, but can tend to flap in the wind at hwy speeds, most cost effective but if your needs include some security, a hard cover tri-fold would be better, in most cases the tailgate has to be opened to raise the hard cover, someone with a pocket knife can cut open a softcover like butter. Just some thoughts to consider. Real Truck is a great sponsor on this forum and is one of many options to source for truck related items.

Go with a Gator soft roll up or the soft tri fold. Personally no need to spend more. It's a truck bed and don't expect a cover even an expensive one to be completely water tight.

I went with the OEM Ford soft tri-fold. It does tend to parachute a little at higher speeds, but the installation hardware is pretty minimal and minimally intrusive on the bed, and it's pretty easy to remove when needed (important criteria for me). There's a few aftermarket options that look similar that were suggested here. The RealTruck Extang Trifecta actually looks like a dead ringer for the OEM Ford one (probably is when you get down to it). Or there's some cheaper ones on Amazon, like this one.

Most of the soft tonneau covers seem to be designed for easy/quick removal, which I really like. I gues that also means if the parachuting bothers me too much I can get rid of the thing easily.

My wife's Mav has the Ford tri-fold hard cover, and while it's decent enough, the extra few inches it eats up at the cab end of the bed have been a problem for us when loading vertical cargo. It's also not particularly easy to remove, but I get the impression it's not really meant to be removed often, if at all. Hard covers seem to be meant to be installed and stay on.
