Hello. Anyone have any experience having PPF installed on their Maverick? Happened upon a Maverick review on YouTube and the reviewer mentioned having it done by XPEL. I sent away for a quote, but in the meantime would entertain member's thoughts.

I don't have it on my Maverick, but I've had it installed on other vehicles and I can say it's well worth the extra cost for paint protection against rock chips and other debris that's thrown up when driving at highway speeds. Definitely worth it on the hood, bumper, A-pillars and mirrors

But if you park outside, UV rays will deteriorate it (yellowing) faster and it will need to be replaced in about 5 to 7 years time depending on exposure.

Hey Dad!

I actually did this myself after getting a quote of something like $1,200-1,500 from a professional. Found many precut 3M professional PPF items on eBay (I can give you the links if you want).

Took some time and probably was not as perfect as a professional shop would have done, but I think fits the bill for protection.

I had XPEL PPF installed on the front bumper of my Maverick - my first experience with it so I was hesitant to do a lot of it. It's also not cheap. This is one of those items that the right installer makes all the difference. You cannot see any lines and it is crystal clear -- can't even tell it's there. XPEL puts a 10-year warranty on it and some installers extend that even more. I'm satisfied and would do it again -- even more coverage if I could swing the price. Would love to do the stealth film all over, but that's big bucks.

When I ordered the truck (Maverick) I opted for that option. To new so I don't know anything about longevity. I did notice a couple small dents from road debris on the lip of the hood, but did not chip paint. I was impressed how well it handled it. Don't get me wrong I was a little upset with having a new truck. Only thing is it could have been significantly worse without it. Sorry I can not be anymore helpful.

If they quote to high a price it may just offset the price of upgrading to a 2025 and ordering it on your build from Ford. I have heard they offer a larger area with aftermarket. Ford just does the front part of the hood and wraps around the fenders to the wheel well. Basically protecting the front of the hood.

I have had it done on other vehicles and I agree with A.Bursell's statement that the right installer makes all the difference. The true pros will wrap the edges and you will barely be able to tell it's there. We had a similar experience as Hunter's Edge where road debris dented the hood but the film saved the paint.

I've learned the hard way that you get what you pay for. My local pro shop is expensive because they use top quality film and are meticulous in their work. I tried one of Z chain stores once and came away with the sloppiest PPF install I've ever seen (and this was after three tries.)

I don’t have a maverick yet, but I’ve had it installed on many vehicles. My current vehicle, a ram 1500, had it installed last summer. I provided a precut expel hood piece, he installed that for $120. He then printed/cut his own autobahn film for the fenders, bumper and mirrors….i want to say that was less than $500

def works great for preventing rock chips etc

the only thing bad I can say is….if you ever have a little front end damage that goes beyond the film and into the paint, then your out the cost of the film plus the cost to repair the front bumper/paint and or deductible if you go that route. Ask me how I know 🤦‍♂️

also forgot to mention, when I added that option to my order, the dealer told me that for some reason he couldn’t add it himself upon actually putting the order through, so I had to forgo the factory installed ppf

I had the dealer install the paint protection film on my 2023 XLT Hybrid. I think it was a bit over $500 that was just added onto the price of the truck. At the time I ordered the truck, the protective film was a constraint item and the sealer said they could install it. I tow the Mav behind my motorhome so the film is essential in protecting the front, pillars, and mirrors from road debris. I have over 10K miles towed and see several nicks in the film that would have been paint chips For me the cost of the film has been justified.

I had it put on my 2023 XLT by a great local installer.
Hood, front quarter panels, mirrors and about 10 inches on top of roof.
We flat tow it behind a motorhome and I think it helps keep the Mav looking good.
This is the 1st time I have ever had PPF installed.
Expensive - but I think worth it..

I had Expel PPF installed on my Mav in April this year. $1500 for a full front bumper, 1/3 hood/fenders/lights and mirrors. Professionally installed and 10 year warranty. I also had my 2016 Outback given the same treatment. 9 years out and 70K miles and the OB front end looks brand new and the headlights are clear. No yellowing at all. Is it worth it? If you keep the vehicle a long time then yes. I would post a picture but you cannot detect the film except in the right lighting conditions.

Had the protective film applied by Ford when they built my truck. The price was very reasonable, much less than I can get locally.

They now make colored PPF. Vvivid has colorfusion which is vinyl with PPF built in. Something to consider if you want to add some color to your Mav

It is a dealer installed option when you order it with your build. Ford did not install it when the truck was built, the dealer did.

I had XPEL installed on our custom ordered ‘23 Mav about a year ago and it’s holding up GREAT. You can’t tell it’s even there, beyond the fact there are NO ROCK CHIPS etc….!

It was about $2000 installed by a reputable shop for: full hood, full fenders, front bumper, headlights, and mirror skull caps.

I would not hesitate to do it again! This is our first brand new vehicle, and while the Mav is not a high dollar vehicle, I still care that it can stay looking mint!
