My Maverick seems to go into battery savers mode way too often. I might drive it one day turn it off and it immediately goes into battery saver mode.. what’s going on here?

All I can say is good luck Edward. I've been dealing with this very problem for about three months now in my 24 Hybrid. A new OEM battery installation followed by a full week in the service department and nothing has changed. Battery saver mode every single day with voltage readings around 11.6 every single day also. My patience is eroding but I'm taking it back next week for another attempt. I'm not very optimistic.

Bad or weak or poor quality 12 volt battery under that back seat.

Talked about 1 million times. Funny, they have only sold 350,000 vehicles so everyone talks about it at least 3 times.

Fix: buy a better name brand battery or an AGM battery. More expensive is usually better.

Fix: pull fuse 11 from the passenger footwell fuse box. This disables the internet modem in the truck that uses some power while parked.

Your battery needs a charge. These trucks are not good at keeping the 12v battery properly charged, and this is a common problem with a lot of new vehicles.

Get a NOCO or other battery maintainer and periodically leave it connected overnight to the jump points under the hood - driver's side. It will eliminate your issue and also greatly extend the 12v battery lifetime.

I am having the same issue, just started happening last week. I just made an appointment for dealer service. I am going to have them perform all recalls and look at my battery and cv joints.

A flooded battery will sulfate due to the rapid charge on/off that the BCM does. Our trucks are made for AGM batteries. You can keep replacing with flooded batteries but the cells will sulfate fast, usually within days after a new battery has been installed. I know, why should I buy a new batter when I have a new truck?

We have all been there/done that and the end result is us buying an AGM battery. It works well with the Maverick's BCM programming. You still might get some "sleep" messages, but that is the normal procedure for the software's BCM. The BIG difference is the battery will recharge faster and hold a charge longer. I have had 3 sleep messages in the last 5 months with my AGM versus 3 in a week and a dead battery within 3 to 4 weeks. The AGM battery recharges with a short trip and holds the charge longer and the cells don't sulfate.

My opinion is to get the AGM. Many in MaverickTruckClub have done so and many have had their AGM batteries for over a year with no issues.

Mine sat nearly 10 full days while we were in Hawaii, day prior, day return, and time gone. No issues, no deep sleep, and fired right up. - BUT, I crammed an H5 AGM into the compartment last year after the messages began at the 5-6 month mark.

I feel most of the battery issues are the low quality factory T4 having very little reserve or durability. Sitting on a bench, it drops from 100% charge straight off a charger to less than 50% in just a few days, and nearly dead at 30 days.

Install a good AGM, which is what the truck comes configured for, and likely your problem goes away.

I have a good quality battery extender but don't know where to plug it into under the hood, or why i wouldn't just connect it to the battery under the seat. If this could be explained it would be appreciated

thank you

You can connect it under the rear seat… just be sure to connect to the body ground, not the negative terminal. This ensures the BMS stays in the loop to measure the charge changes.

It’s quite easy to make a simple harness for permanent installation. There is an unused positive post on the positive battery connector (just under the red plastic cover) and several body grounds nearby. See below for an example:

Use some loom tape to protect the wires and give the harness a factory look. Make sure there is an inline fuse near the battery connector to protect against an accidental short. The charger connector can just hang out under or beside the rear seat, readily accessible when needed.

I use a quick-connect at the jump points under the hood. With the hood up while charging, I never forget to unplug before I drive the truck again.
