Dashcam Install - Hardwiring issues

Hello everyone, I just got my Maverick (Lariat, EcoBoost, lux package) in Velocity Blue, I am super excited about the truck.

I have a dashcam and wanted to hardwire to the fusebox, I've tried a couple of different fuses, with the camera always turning off when the auto start-stop kicks. Does anyone know which fuse to use so this does not happen?

I've used fuses #3,20 and 24

20 and 24 were continuous power, but still cut turns the Camera off when the auto start-stops powers the car down and fuse 3 is only powered when the car is on, with the same issue.

The fuse layout used was on page 299 of the owner's manual.

I am using #20 to power my camera and it stays on all the time. I couldn't find anything in the interior fuse panel that only worked with the key on. I may have to try #3.

My Camera has an internal battery that shuts the camera off after 3 minutes, so the auto start/stop wouldn't affect it too much. I just wish I could get it to power off when I am not driving.

Really don't want to run the wire to the under hood panel.

This is where wiring diagrams would come in handy.. But looking at the fuses number 13 lock/unlock should have consist power regardless of the car being off or on.. They wouldnt want you trapped in vehicle.

Also, do you have auto start stop and does is cycle the camera off/on when the car turns off at at stop light?

Is the power actually shutting off on those circuits or is your dashcam seeing that the power is now 12V instead of 14V and thinking the vehicle shut off?

Edit: Actually, you'd already said that on the circuit switching, but I'd guess the voltage transient is what's causing it. If you can't set it to stay on for some amount of minutes or disable auto-off my idea would be run the power through a buck or boost converter to lock it to a stable voltage, but maybe someone properly electrical engineer-y could come up with a more elegant solution.

I have an XLT and don't have an auto dimming mirror, but there is a fuse in #3.

And with the battery backup on my camera, I don't even notice it shut off when the auto start/stop. Only when its been running on battery for 3 mins, it starts a count down from 10 until its shuts off.

Useless info first:
The manual shows Fuse 3 being for the auto dimming mirror which no Maverick has - I think that's a carry over from either the Bronco Sport or Escape options. Go to the top of the next page in the manual.

It starts with no fuse information about the top item which is the auto dimming high beams module and the camera for that is up near the mirror. I think it's a continuation of Fuse 3 and poor page break placement. They'd probably both share the power source if the option was available.

Useful info:
I'm using Fuse 3 for the exact same thing as you and not having the same problem. Auto Start Stop is not effecting (affecting?) my dash cam's operation. My previous car with this exact same cam did occasionally cause it to restart, but no issues with the Maverick.

I think it's got something to do with a voltage drop as the vehicle turns over and your dashcam not liking it.

Does your dashcam have an internal lithium ion battery? Mine is capacitor only, which arguably would be even more jarred by voltage changes.

Since the Ford Maverick configurator lists a couple of dash cam interior accessories (Aamp Global F70 front view for $189 and Aamp Global F200 front, rear and cabin views for $349), is it possible that the Maverick has a power source pre-wired into the rear view mirror area? I have no idea, but just speculating...

Is there no accessory fuse (labeled ACC in owner manual) in Ford vehicles? Other makes have a fuse which only powers on in accessory mode or the engine turned on. That fuse usually power the 12v / cig outlets.

Affect - is a verb, "to affect” – meaning to influence or have an impact on something.
Effect - is a noun. an effect (a positive or a negative effect) is the result of being affected by something.
But, Effect can also be used as a verb: “to effect”, which means to bring something about – “to effect a change”. However, this is not very commonly used.

Given the above, I have no REAL idea which is correct. But if forced I would guess 'affecting' is the correct usage.
