Just saw an article on the new Ranger, and they added a step into the rear rocker panel. That seems convenient, but not sure I’m fond of the look.

Seems to be available on certain models only.
Looks to be a little cumbersome to get on to the tailgate from that side step. Thinking about it. You could use the step with your left leg. Then put your right foot on the bumper. but then you're kind of in an awkward position to step onto the tailgate. There maybe enough room to get both feet on the bumper??

It's not as you are thinking at all. My Tacoma step is in the same spot. It's like going up stairs. Left foot goes on the step, left hand on the bedrail.

You raise up on the left foot and place your right foot on the lowered tailgate, just like going up stairs. Super easy.

I can't envision it.
Do you have any pictures of your Tacoma?

I don't think it's even close. Maybe
Did it work out with your wife's Maverick?

It would be difficult on the Mav. You can't go in the back of the hitch because it's against the spare. From the side would have to have a drop down and weave thru the back. My Tacoma was easy. I cut the end off my Bully hitch step and it slid right inside the side of my receiver hitch.

I’m 64 and 6’ and just hop right in. Can reach anything but a penny in the middle from the the sides 😎
lol no way man.

I'm 6'1" and 40 years old. I'm not reaching anything in the middle of this bed from the sides. I can barely reach the middle of the tonneau cover while drying. Same goes for the rear window and top of the roof. Barely enough to get my drying towel across one side at a time. If I really want to clean the rear window, I stand in the bed.

Let's be realistic here. Laughable exaggeration.

I did this demonstration tonight because it's finally cool enough to be outside comfortably.
I am 6 ft I used to be 6'1 but age 69 and gravity has taken an inch away.
What we have is a penny laying in the bed of my Maverick. Standing flat-footed on the ground I can reach in and pick it up almost in the center of the bed.
So, not that big of an exaggeration.

You must have short arms or legs. I can reach the antenna while washing the truck from either side. I can wash the rear window too. The only place that’s hard to reach is the very center of the roof. Sounds like you may also have flexibility issues. JAT 🤷‍♂️

Well, I am physically disabled but it's not for those reasons. I still stand the same height and reach the same as well, it's the walking/running part I have trouble with now. I can barely reach the antenna and it's usually the drying towel that does most the reaching. If I want to get around the antenna I stand in the bed. If I really want to dry the roof and do something like apply a protective coating, I do it from the bed. Because the reach is barely there from the sides without standing inside the cab.

I'm just saying it was an exaggeration. Most are in this thread. Being able to reach is one thing, being able to actually do anything with that reach is another.

Either way, folks coming into the thread and saying "I can do it, why can't you" is the worst kind of help nobody asks for.

1/10 demo. Reach that penny in the center of the bed. The center, as was stated by the person claiming they can do it. Not close to the wheel well where you can reach it lol. wtf.

It's an exaggeration.

Also, you have entirely too much free time. I have a lot. But this demo was a next level petty attempt. U ok? Seems like you got a chip on your shoulder. Showing signs of a previous account again.

I think some folks need to learn to avoid some sorts of comments and threads. We all have opinions, but at what point does sharing yours become just a jab at others? Two fine examples right here. Not helpful.

After almost 2yrs waiting for Dee Zee to come out with a bumper step for the Maverick, I finally gave up and bought a 13" folding step stool.

As you can see, it takes up a whole lot of space.

I added one of these and it is on there 24/7 (thus the reflective tape). I did move the license plate a bit to the right after I took this picture.

As someone else already posted, a folding step stool is a potential solution. At 5'-5 and 63, this is what I used for my Tacoma which is notably higher than the Maverick. I store it in the floor in the back seat. It isn't very elegant, but it works for me.
