You cant control the speaker. You can unplug the speaker but the truck will know its unplugged. There are companies that sell a resistor that might fix the error messages but ive not seen anyone use it yet.
What noise? I have a 2024 Lariat and I don't hear anything unusual. I'm 71, but don't think I need a hearing aid. I'm not hearing it because the radio and AC are on? No worries then.

What noise? Six hybrids and I've not heard a noise but I did spend a bunch of time standing behind jets to take advantage of the heat from the engines and sleep under the #3 arresting cable on the USS Enterprise in 1971 with the Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club. Did you say something?

In his defense, I think he genuinely just didn't know any better. No harm, no foul, at least he's learning.
Yeah, I almost contacted my neighbor (who was walking) a few months back. I'm parked 3 feet from the sidewalk, started backing out in reverse as he's walking by. Saw him in the backup cam, put the brakes on and he juked. Gotta get the backup cam recall done too, mine freezes just a tiny bit.

I just got my new Hybrid Lariat and the synthetic engine noise below 20 MPH is really loud. Is there any way to reduce it? Or even turn it off? I know it is probably law that Hybrids make noise when all electric mode.
For what it's worth, I drove mine a bit with the windows were open when I first got it and thought it was a bit loud, now I don't. It seems unlikely, but I have the impression that it has quieted down a bit and it's certainly not bothersome to me and I'm pretty sensitive to noise. I regularly drive slowly with pedestrians around in a park where I take our dog to walk.
One could wrap the speaker with some material to mute the sound, but it takes quite a bit of work to get to it, unless you're installing fog lights, and I don't think it's worth the trouble.

I agree on all counts. Thx. Just took some time to get use to.

The speaker is behind where the driver side fog lamp should be. (Makes adding fog lamps a little tricky but still doable.)

You could literally "stick a sock in it" or around it to muffle it a little but still have it. I almost did in the first 3 months. But by six months I was totally used to it.

Seven year ago I bought a home near an airport. First few months the noise bothered me. Not any more. Now I rarely hear a plane. Amazing what the brain can be trained to not hear.

Just ask your wife.

It's like the Jetsons.
bah.

never mind the Jetsons, I want the Enterprise's main phasors!

🤪

I'd like to just turn it down.
If its over safety, it should be ab out the same apparent volume as "expected", as it is an indicator of distance to those relying on hearing it. That is, too loud is also a problem.

Yep, that is why I added glass packs to the 5.0 92 mustang, for pedestrian safety.
A few years ago, I got several chances to drive a '27 Cadillac over a couple of weeks.

the grandchildren of the longtime owner had it a while before the current owner had it. They, for incomprehensible reasons, ground off most of the factory pin striping (missing the inch or two between the doors on one side), which was used as a template for restoration.

But he was amused enough by the glass packs hat he left them on!

In regards to that idea of spaceship - just be glad it isn't the Toyota noise (at least friend's Rav4 hybrid) - that really sounds like it reverse and forward.
They commented they liked the trucks reverse so much more.
And while I could hear their reverse, when they drove by me just above 5mph - I didn't hear their forward noise.
The Hyundai Tuscon hybrid has a horrendous reverse noise. Sounds like whales mating. (Rather what I would expect that to sound like, lol)

If you don't like it....
If it annoys you...

It is working correctly.
It is doing it's job.

I wonder how hard it is to hook up one of those beepers that semi's and front loaders use when they're backing up.
I want something that will alert those people who continue walking behind me with their face plastered to their phones, while I'm backing up. 😉

You can add those to any vehicle.
Some attach directly to your reverse lamps. Might be a plug n play option for you.

Multiple options. Try searching online.
