I just got my new Hybrid Lariat and the synthetic engine noise below 20 MPH is really loud. Is there any way to reduce it? Or even turn it off? I know it is probably law that Hybrids make noise when all electric mode.

You cant control the speaker. You can unplug the speaker but the truck will know its unplugged. There are companies that sell a resistor that might fix the error messages but ive not seen anyone use it yet.

Huh - I'm in an XLT and can't hear mine with AC off. Reverse yes, slow forward no.
And Lariat has more insulation in places, though I do get the same quarter panel insulation strips between engine bay and front doors.

Are you sure it's not just the motor noise you are hearing, and your tire noise finally becomes louder at 20 mph?
I didn't even think the requirement was that fast since tire noise becomes loud enough much slower speeds, usually depending on road surface.

I've never heard it either.
Maybe it's because, I always have the AC on and the compressor is pretty loud.

Without hearing a recording you might be having an issue. Aside from some electric motor noise, that is completely normal, it should be nearly silent below 20 MPH. Unless you have the AC on.

Edit: What I mean by nearly silent is that you can easily creep up on people from behind when the AC is off. I have unintentionally scared people in the grocery parking lot plenty of times.

As you correctly guessed, the government mandated that all EVs and hybrids need to play an eternal noise while traveling, especially at lower speeds. Disabling this would open you up to a lawsuit if you were ever involved in an accident. Some lawyer would claim if you hadn't disabled the sound, the accident would have been avoidable. So I'd just leave it. You actually grow to like it as time goes on if you imagine yourself as driving this little spaceship or something. It's like the Jetsons.

In regards to that idea of spaceship - just be glad it isn't the Toyota noise (at least friend's Rav4 hybrid) - that really sounds like it reverse and forward.
They commented they liked the trucks reverse so much more.
And while I could hear their reverse, when they drove by me just above 5mph - I didn't hear their forward noise.

It's pretty sad that some folks just have no regard for pedestrians or their safety. Illegal mod posts to remove safety features should be removed from MTC.

No the engine is not running and it is in full electric.

I'd like to just turn it down. It is louder than any other Maverick I've been around. Even my salesman agreed.

Here you go. Illegal in the US, legal in Canada (so far). But it plugs into your external speaker to trick the Maverick into thinking the fake engine noise is still on.

Good luck with things like tint. It would fall into that category as you can't see pedestrians as clearly b/c its darker (esp at night). Yet, people tint their vehicles all the time

No the engine is not running and it is in full electric.
I said motor for a reason, not engine.
Motor is what turns the wheels in electric mode.
Traction motor.
Also a generator motor for starting engine and eCVT gearing.

So with that new info - are you sure it's not just the motor?

So as mentioned - if it is - could be a problem.

Yep, that is why I added glass packs to the 5.0 92 mustang, for pedestrian safety. LOL NOT
