Sitting here at home, I was just thinking about us Maverick Owners. We are a dieding breed of car guys! We are the guys who over 50 years have been modifing all our vehicles to make them different from other peoples cars, and trucks. Todays younger crowd are into tuning, not us, we like to change and add things. Truck guys are hands on people from the minute you drives your truck home, the wheels in your head are thinking what this truck needs! The Maverick was the perfect vehicle to do things to. You could buy basic XL, or go all in like I did with a loaded Lariat, (I still have my 56 Tbird to play with) Even at 84, I still like to get my hands dirty. What's your thinking on this post?
You are spot on. I enjoy doing mods on my maverick and just ordered a bed cubby for my xl.

75+ here, and I've had more than my share of vehicles - 42 of them to be exact. All but the very first one (in 1968) have been new. Regular cars, family cars, performance cars, trucks, SUV's, minivans, American cars, German cars, Japanese cars - you name it and I probably had it at one point in time. Currently have a 2023 Mav hybrid that took 501 days to get, and I'm just about to pull the trigger on a 2025 hybrid to get the AWD and 4K tow package. Won't say the Maverick is the best vehicle I've ever had, but I damn sure do like it.

Funny thing is, the Maverick made me a car guy.

I just turned 50 today and have owned maybe a dozen vehicles. I was always a "get me A to B" person, so I got reasonably priced new cars (a couple free ones from work) and drove them for 5 to 10 years. Rarely did anything to them beyond a seat cover for sweat.

Then I bought a '22 XLT Mav hybrid. Stuff like floor mats, tonneau covers, and bed racks started showing up. I started watching car reviews online. I could talk knowledgeabley about the Ford Raptor R. I cared about car cleaning stuff.

My wife asked me if I'd been swapped with someone.

Nope. Just bought a Mav (actually bought a second Mav, a '24, because Carmax gave me over list for the '22 and Ford gave a discount on the new one).

So now I'm in the club, looking for more ways to mod the Mav, like a car guy.

I was a DIY "car guy" BEFORE the Maverick. Buying then fixing up $5000 cars to save money and a little for the fun of it. Someday I'll fix or mod the Maverick, but in my mid 40's, I don't have time right now. I'm on a DIY sabbatical. Focused on work, family and socializing, no time for tinkering. That's why I bought a new car and an extended warranty.

At 15 had my first car 56 chevy Belair 7k miles 6cyl showroom condition my neighbor left me in her will for mowing her lawn for free, it took me less than a year to ruin that car, small block, suspension, hurst shifter etc, etc. At 16 was able to drive. Cant count the cars after that that would of been 100s of thousands of dollars now. 57 chevy, 67 nova SS, 68 Camaro SS big block, 70 Monti Carlo SS, the list goes on and on, I ruined them all!!. what's wrong with ME, I need help. 73 now and had my garage full of parts before my 22 FX4 LUX was even delivered to put them on. I need Help !

Does changing out all 6 speakers, undercarriage rust protection, adding kilmat, under carriage shield on the driver's side rear, making my own tonneau cover, and adding an air dam to the front, 4 inches of window tinting to the top of the windscreen, count?
I might have forgotten a few other modes I have done

Envious of the 56 Bird Frank but I do have a 60 A-H Bugeye and 73 GT6 to tinker on. Not sure of dying breed. My 6 year old great grandson can't wait to inherit my tools.
When I moved to Florida in 2011, I brought with me from Long Island New York my 1951 Jaguar XK 120 roadster, my 1960 bugeye sprite, and my 1974 wide body targa Porsche. All are gone now, and also a 63 Riviera, 57 Tbird, and 2002 Tbird that replaced the other cars. Because of my age, I'm down to the 56 Tbird. But I have my eye on a 2003 Porsche 911,996.2 Targa! That's Me can't kick the habit.

Yep started driving early 70’s. I just wish I could buy some Cragar SS wheels that fit for mine 🤪
I wonder if these old American Racing 200S in magnesium will work? Haha, I run them on the ‘66 Mustang.
