Sitting here at home, I was just thinking about us Maverick Owners. We are a dieding breed of car guys! We are the guys who over 50 years have been modifing all our vehicles to make them different from other peoples cars, and trucks. Todays younger crowd are into tuning, not us, we like to change and add things. Truck guys are hands on people from the minute you drives your truck home, the wheels in your head are thinking what this truck needs! The Maverick was the perfect vehicle to do things to. You could buy basic XL, or go all in like I did with a loaded Lariat, (I still have my 56 Tbird to play with) Even at 84, I still like to get my hands dirty. What's your thinking on this post?

Yep started driving early 70’s. I just wish I could buy some Cragar SS wheels that fit for mine 🤪

I'm coming from the Scion crowd (2005 - 2010ish) and not the only one on the forums here that used to drive a 1st gen xB. There were definitely quite a few gen-Xers and millennials wanting to mod for aesthetics and personalization, not just go fast tuning [though I did do a built and 12 lb. boosted engine on my little toaster, dyno'd at ~160 whp (stock 86) on a 1.5L with an auto trans and weighing only 2,400 lbs; 5th windshield, 3rd engine, 2nd transmission, fun ride].

I personally think there's a subset of every generation that wants to customize, but it always comes down to time, budget and aftermarket support. Funny enough, Scion was marketed to the under 30 crowd but ended up being purchased by mostly 40+ who wanted something cheap, reliable and flexible to handle most household needs. Maverick may end up trending the same way, especially with MSRP now creeping into $30k+ territory.

Miss my toaster! Definitely a fun car to drive! You felt like you were in a chair driving down the road! So much visibility!

I'm not 50 yet but I'm getting closer each year that passes by. But I've always enjoyed doing my own modifications adding my personal touch to the exterior and interior customization whether it be window tint car stereo or upgraded headlight bulbs or changing out to a LED headlight or tail light assembly.

I've always liked changing up the look to give it my own personal touch and taste. As well as doing my own routine maintenance on my vehicles to save from having to take it to a shop and wait on someone else to possibly make a mistake.

58 as well here, never was a big one on mods on my vehicles, so far I have gone all in! Tonneau cover, mud flaps and tomorrow, keyless entry. May get the front windows tinted. This network engineer is thrifty and loves his comfort at 45 mpg the Maverick checks both boxes quite well!

On the family farm we DIY customize everything. Newer stuff is just harder to work on. Too much finicky technology. I'm not a neophobe. Built many computers over the years. One of the pitfalls of mass production is that it's made for efficient assembly. And pain in the butt to repair, maintain and customize.

Envious of the 56 Bird Frank but I do have a 60 A-H Bugeye and 73 GT6 to tinker on. Not sure of dying breed. My 6 year old great grandson can't wait to inherit my tools.

66, almost 67 and still like to do my own oil changes, tire rotations. Plugs last forever now so when it's time to have that and injectors cleaned, I take it to my local trusted independent garage. You know the kind of place I'm talking about. The owner still runs it, the Flat screen is on, magazines are there to read and the owner is always ready to talk about cars, sports and good food...............
