They definitely knocked it out of the park on the safety testing.

Yep- it is safe. Safe like taking a cousin to prom or kissing your sister. Thing is UGLY…and over priced. I say buy your Mav and don’t crash it.

This subforum is meant for the Maverick vs its competitors. Since these vehicles will be family trucks for many, safety is definitely a consideration (and frankly should be ranked far above looks).

Generally people don't mean to get into a car crash... its why they are called accidents.

I don't believe that the Maverick has been safety rated as yet, at least not according to the Hybrid window sticker recently posted on the forum or according to Customer Report or IIHS. So there's really no valid way to compare the Maverick's against the competition as yet. As for putting safety above looks, I agree it should rank up there, but humans are more likely to drive a good looking vehicle that's not to safe than driving a safe vehicle that looks like tank. I for one don't buy into "accident" especially when it comes to humans. There is a chain of events that led up to the "accident" that if any one event was changed or altered the "accident" could've been avoided. However, I'm not here to preach, teach or rain on anyone's parade, I'm here to love Mavericks!

Oh boy, you sound like a plane crash documentary. Yes, there's a chain of events to all accidents. That does not mean you're always aware of it or have any control over it, so it is still an accident. For example, someone runs a light an t-bones you. One of the links in the chain is why you left and were in that spot. Doesn't mean that's not an accident.

I hope the Maverick scores better on the new side impact test than the Escape. In the small SUV test, only the Mazda knocked that one out of the park.

Not that I would ever buy one, but that's good for the people that are purchasing them. I'm happy to receive my Mav soon, but hauling 2 kids around makes me wish that this article were the Mav instead of the SC.

It is what it is.

That is a good report, and interesting to those who would use the .gov ratings as a deciding factor -

Yeah, but will the driver be saved if the vehicle has an offset frontal crash with a semi truck? That’s real world results right there.

Not sure if this was posted yet, but its another data point at least for those cross shopping between the Maverick and Santa Cruz. Maverick is still waiting for its test results I guess.

The Ford crash test was done in southern Indiana where they crashed head on into and 18 wheeler. That's the old school way I guess. I haven't heard how the test dummy fared in that test yet, but the Maverick took it pretty well.

I have NEVER looked into safety ratings before buying a vehicle and I don't think I ever will, as a motorcycle rider I always leave my house with the mentality that if I crash I die so I do my best to keep them shiny side up.

If you start worrying too much about "what if" you wouldn't leave your house and end up in a Psychiatric Ward.
