Stepson shot me a couple photos of a Mach-E battery dropped for inspection.
Ford field service asked dealer to drop and open battery for diagnosis. Don't know the reason, sorry.
Seems to be plenty of serviceable parts.

Part of me finds this interesting and another part shudders.

So is this a fairly easy job as in can be dropped and inspected in a single day?

Just so much equipment and you'd need a lift to see any of it and a degree to service it.

The electrician in me chuckles. Not a job for the average shade tree mechanic.

The blue thing in the second photo is a lift, similar to a transmission jack.

That Mach-e battery weighs more than 1000 pounds.

An electric GMC Hummer weighs about 9,000 pounds, with a battery pack that alone is 2,900 pounds — roughly the entire weight of a typical Honda Civic.

Electric vehicles are so heavy they are crashing through guardrails.
Tests reveal that current guardrails are not designed to withstand the force of these heavier vehicles. There are also concerns also about parking garages that were designed for gas vehicles being overloaded with the weight of electric vehicles.

Not even, and the talk of swapping out the battery like on a DeWalt cordless drill is a complete joke.
Every manufacturers vehicle has it’s own vehicle specific battery pack.
Maybe one day fleets could benefit from changeable batteries but they are extremely heavy. Almost be better to have a secondary fleet that could be charged while the others were in use.

And look what happens when a big lithium battery combusts. Very, very difficult to control because traditional methods of controlling and ending the fire do not work.

Just a new wave of learning, training to be done . Doesnt phase me , 33 year electrician 12kv to low voltage , specializing in cell sites since late 90’s all phases and dc battery backup.
Just need yo find young people that will do work , thats the problem , less willing entrylevel techs means more expensive the service of these will be until the market gets flooded with properly trained techs.

As far as weight large mach e’s are at 1000lb , teslas model s is close to 1300lb, but overall the vehicles are built lighter and more effecient use of weight for structure, impact strength and balance front to rear.
My 1992 4 door bronco centurian is 8000lb
My 2005 Mercedes s600 v12 tt was 4900 lb
I know most diesel crewcab 4wd trucks eclipse the weight of 8000 lbs and duallies are pushing 8600 lbs . Heck mustang gt 5.0 is at 3900 lb now ! Hopefully our guard rails and parking structures are made to handle a bunch those .
I think in america we have to factor in the cargo ( occupants) are getting heavier too!
Im on a diet now so doing my part.

Are these batteries in the Mavericks?
The maverick version is about the size of 1/2 of one of those modules( little black square)its very small and even with aluminum case probably not even 100lbs.
