No offense intended. You are taking my comment out of context. I’m talking about the seemingly-large number of dealer stock versions that show up with the FX4 trim. There must be a reason so many dealers have ordered them. Those of you on this forum researched and purposely ordered this option. But how many buyers stumble upon one of these FX4’s while touring the lot, and really have no idea what that means? They might see it as a “cool” upgrade. Many of those buyers are likely not to be the MAVERICK "experts" we on this forum are, and I can’t help but think that sticker helps make a sale for a lot of people. It’s not that what comes with the package is bad. You might think, "well, having those extras is just nice - even if I have no real use for them. Or maybe they just like the look. Or maybe a lot of people who buy them really do a lot of towing, and this particular setup they stumbled upon is just what they need. EGO is an ugly reality we all have to deal with, and it’s a BIG factor in a consumer society! Yours was riled up just by the sheer mention of it.

First, everyone placed a Reservation (mine was back in June or July) for a unit. That then required that they select a Dealer, contact them and convert that Reservation to an actual Order, which typically required a Deposit (mine was $500 and was made a week after I placed the Reservation) At that point we began to see Ford state that they intended to fill those orders before making Stock Units to send to Dealerships for Retail Sale. Fast forward to the last few weeks where we now see videos being posted daily by Ford Dealerships with units available (albeit at over MSRP prices) on their lots for sale. I know some are from Orders that we declined when they began to show up, but from my understanding from Dealership Personnel, most are simply retail sale units. My point is that you would think that Ford would have the integrity to both stick to their original commitment to fill actual customers orders, as well as not tell us one thing and do the exact opposite.

Long as I am ranting, I have a 2.0 AWD Lariat in Velocity Blue with a Tow Pkg and a Luxury Pkg on order. The 'word' from the Dealer is that the XL and then the XLT is being produced first and then they will begin to make the Lariat. Meanwhile, I see new videos with Lariats being made daily. Seriously? I had to drop the Hard Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover from my order, for the order to go forward (no biggie: buy one aftermarket, but still) Yet I see video's being made with them on the trucks from the factory. My original build date (even tho' I ordered back in Summer) was for Nov. 1st. Then that got bumped up to Nov. 9th. Gotta wonder if that will get bumped up before the 9th gets here (as today is Nov. 2nd)

Then yesterday I see on the news where undocumented aliens have been found riding the rails inside of new cars being transported from Mexico and living in them while journeying North. Hmmm..... better take a really close look at the insides for signs of habitation or damage before assuming it is brand shiny new, whenever it arrives I suppose!
I have heard that it is always darkest before the dawn...…(or is that Daylight Savings Time?) Hang in there!! You will get it and you will love it. You cannot control Ford, but you can control how you handle the frustration. Good Luck!

I'm glad I have patience, just ordered yesterday & if it gets here in March or later I'm ok with that have many other vehicles to drive, but really wanted a Maverick. The later is arrives the less I have to finance.

There’s a wise old fart on every forum. I just have to remember to heed them

Surprisingly, it looks like this forum mostly represents the elderly! The promo clip of the young people loading bags of mulch into the bed needs to be updated with old people - and twice as many - because it takes two of us to get one of those bags up into the truck!

Glad to hear that our our hard working neighbors down south have figured out a way to stay safe as they make their way up towards the United States for a better life. I’ll gladly let them ride in my maverick as they make their way to their new life.

Dang you are the third or fourth person slamming those of us that got the FX4 package, second one that mentioned ego, Old Fart was the other poster but hell he bashed anyone that didn't get a hybrid XL...whatever.. I got what I wanted, I am paying for what I want. The package seemed like a decent deal for the cost. Not sure where ego can be applied for something that fits my needs but oh well...my ego will be stroked soon since my delivery is on or about November 18th. I am thrilled for anyone that gets what they want regardless of color, options, eco or hybrid but apparently that's not the opinion of some and I agree the waiting absolutely sucks.
Anyone who doesn’t buy a used, base corolla can be criticized for having an ego of some level. 😎

I'm going to speculate that there is far more going on in the corporate offices than any of us are privy to.

If I were the owner of a dealership I would be leaning on Ford for inventory, anything they could give me. I would also be aggressively seeking used cars to buy.

Ford has shown that it is willing to take big gambles. it gambled and won with the EB. It is gambling on nearly eliminating car models and it is gambling on reducing dealer inventory.

It is an interesting time in the automotive industry.

Everyone has EGO about something. Buying a vehicle is a very emotional purchase for most. The dealers are betting on that!

I would certainly welcome those immigrants to ride home with me. They’re the only people who are still willing to do the kinds of ugly chores I used to do when I was young, and used to be able to hire younger Americans to do when I was older.

That story would be of particular interest here in Tucson, so I've been searching for it. No luck.

Could you post a link?
