Does Ford assign dealers to online orders

Just a curiosity question: How does Ford assign orders to dealers when the order is placed online directly from Fords “Build My Ford” website? I wasn’t part of this type of process since I went directly to a dealership and sat with a salesman to “build” my Maverick. Does Ford just assign to the closest dealer? Do they give you a choice among the dealers in your area? Based on allocation? Spread evenly among area dealers? Again…just curious.

They default in the "closest" dealer but you can change it near the end of the process. I received an email from Ford that my build was received by the dealer I'd chosen ... but I haven't gotten confirmation from the dealer ... read into that what you will.

FYI, you aren't "ordering" anything when you submit with the build and price tool. It just sends the dealer a lead notification. "Hey, this person is interesting in buying a Maverick with this configuration (that they'll probably ignore), here's their contact information."
