First, everyone placed a Reservation (mine was back in June or July) for a unit. That then required that they select a Dealer, contact them and convert that Reservation to an actual Order, which typically required a Deposit (mine was $500 and was made a week after I placed the Reservation) At that point we began to see Ford state that they intended to fill those orders before making Stock Units to send to Dealerships for Retail Sale. Fast forward to the last few weeks where we now see videos being posted daily by Ford Dealerships with units available (albeit at over MSRP prices) on their lots for sale. I know some are from Orders that we declined when they began to show up, but from my understanding from Dealership Personnel, most are simply retail sale units. My point is that you would think that Ford would have the integrity to both stick to their original commitment to fill actual customers orders, as well as not tell us one thing and do the exact opposite.

Long as I am ranting, I have a 2.0 AWD Lariat in Velocity Blue with a Tow Pkg and a Luxury Pkg on order. The 'word' from the Dealer is that the XL and then the XLT is being produced first and then they will begin to make the Lariat. Meanwhile, I see new videos with Lariats being made daily. Seriously? I had to drop the Hard Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover from my order, for the order to go forward (no biggie: buy one aftermarket, but still) Yet I see video's being made with them on the trucks from the factory. My original build date (even tho' I ordered back in Summer) was for Nov. 1st. Then that got bumped up to Nov. 9th. Gotta wonder if that will get bumped up before the 9th gets here (as today is Nov. 2nd)

Then yesterday I see on the news where undocumented aliens have been found riding the rails inside of new cars being transported from Mexico and living in them while journeying North. Hmmm..... better take a really close look at the insides for signs of habitation or damage before assuming it is brand shiny new, whenever it arrives I suppose!

The Mavericks that weren't being built for stock before customer orders were the hybrid. And the reason your build got moved was because the factory is shut down this week due to material shortages. Your dealership was incorrect that they're building the trims in specific order.

Welcome to the forum. Enjoyed this post immensely. This might be a great time to review some of the many threads about Maverick production. Have fun.

I never remember Ford actually coming out and saying that retail orders were gonna get produced first, I just remember it being an unsubstantiated Internet rumor, so it wasn't too surprising when it turned out to be untrue.
Bummer about the build date but it's kinda just the way it goes. My build date was 10/11 and they weren't even courteous enough to shoot me an email with a heads up about its delay, I've just been waiting for nearly a month while it sets around down there somewhere, seemingly half built.

Mavericks are not meant for those low on patience.

I agree, 90% of the ones posting here have bought off the lot. Very few have actually bought what they ordered.. Makes you think this might be some type of pattern...

Last thing I heard is that in very early November Ford was going to stop taking orders for hybrids. It would be nice that at that point they start filling all the Hybrid orders first and clear up the list. Maybe even build a few hybrid First Editions, Like the one I ordered five months ago.

Great post-so frustrating. But, be thankful you have an actual build date!

I still have trouble wrapping my head around the dealer allocation system, but I suspect that there is some mis-information between what dealers are telling us about getting our orders, and whether those orders have actually been allocated. I’m waiting for a fully loaded Lariat (no off-road gimmicks), but I rarely see one appearing in dealer stock orders - which I assume is logical - it’s NOT the best value. What seems to be showing up frequently is the XLT FX4 package. And that also probably makes sense from the dealers’ perspective - a decent level of equipment, and the sales incentive, for larger egos, of that FX4 sticker on the tail. I’m starting to regret not taking the Lariat lux package offered to me by my dealer a few weeks back, because it wasn’t the color I wanted, and I have zero use, or desire, for that FX4 package. With supply looking dire, I’m beginning to think it will be a long time before I see the vehicle I tried to order.

Show us where the FX4 sticker hurt you. LMAO. I could care less what the sticker says, I got it for the black wheels, hitch and upgraded cooling.
As far as the dealer telling the OP how the factory builds the trucks, it makes no sense. They build with parts they have available not in a specific order. If they ran out of black seats they wouldn't build any xlt or lariats? Also, we're going to need a link to that "news" article.

Was at a dealer in St. Louis last night. He has an Area 51 XLT, Lux Pack, Bed Extender in stock. Told me that they have not received 1 retail order yet, but has received 3 stock orders. Dealers are getting trucks.

As for people hitching a ride inside the Maverick during transportation, Hermosillo already had a problem with drugs getting smuggled inside Fusions, so it's possible.

Not knocking anyone for choosing FX4. I don’t tow anything, and I don’t like the look of the black wheels, at least not this design. I have specifically asked the dealer if I received one of the allocation spots, and they said yes. I want to believe that, but these are the same folks who made me beg for paperwork that I should have received without having to ask for it. I have protected my own butt by making a deal on MY terms and by being pretty well informed. Unfortunately, I just can’t find a sense of trust about either Ford or the dealer. In the end we are responsible for our own actions, and I chose to trust what was being talked about in the market over two months ago about actually getting one of these trucks. (I stumbled upon this vehicle unexpectedly) Turned out a lot of promises were made, and many of them haven’t been, or were unable to be fulfilled. Because of supply issues a lot of what is happening is unavoidable, I’ve been waiting for over 8 months for a dishwasher, but I do fault Ford for making what sounded like pretty firm promises, and for a horribly-failed communication system (there are no ā€œcommunication shortagesā€). I do fault myself for buying into this circus. With the world in it’s current state, it was really foolish of me to order ANYTHING!

Dang you are the third or fourth person slamming those of us that got the FX4 package, second one that mentioned ego, Old Fart was the other poster but hell he bashed anyone that didn't get a hybrid XL...whatever.. I got what I wanted, I am paying for what I want. The package seemed like a decent deal for the cost. Not sure where ego can be applied for something that fits my needs but oh well...my ego will be stroked soon since my delivery is on or about November 18th. I am thrilled for anyone that gets what they want regardless of color, options, eco or hybrid but apparently that's not the opinion of some and I agree the waiting absolutely sucks.

People on these boards all act as if they need the Maverick right away. I'm sure some do, but not nearly to the level that folks would have you believe.

My Maverick has been ordered for just a little over a month now after having a reservation for about 2. I would have loved my Maverick yesterday but I also know it is coming sooner than later.

There's a damn global supply chain nightmare and global material shortages affecting all manufacturing. Not just the auto industry, or specifically Ford.

Obtaining a new vehicle that you want with the specific options through an ordering process is going to take months if not close to a year to complete. Plan ahead. We're also lucky that we should get ours in MY22 and be protected from the impending price increases that will be steep.
