I changed mine the first time at 2000 miles. No regrets as the stuff that came out of it was nasty. Brownish green stuff that didn't smell any too good either. I'll change it again at 5000, then every 5000 afterwards.
People don't take into consideration who is telling them the extended oil changes are alright. Ford's "engineers" are on Ford's payroll, and Ford has one purpose in being, to sell cars. They don't want your Maverick to last 150+ thousand miles, they want it to burn out at 80000, then you'll buy another one..

Yeah, I caught that little detail too. Pretty wrong-headed. Sounds like they sent the poor tech out poorly equipped to deal with this aspect of his job. Glad the OP had ramps.

Yep the car ramps saved him because the mavericks sit low to the ground and I wouldn't crawl under the truck up on hydrulick jack. Actually had to make 2 ramps out of 2 x 6 wood to drive onto my car ramps because without the wood ramps the front air dam hit the car ramps. But I do like the mobile service at my house

I'm more worried about the technician climbing under a truck that is held up by a tyre jack. Completely nuts.

I agree that's why I offered him my car ramps I have had to go under my truck.and take underbody panel off to install my nudge bar and the ramps worked great only problem was the car ramps where a little to high and hit front air dam so I had to make 2 wood ramps out of 2 x 6 to drive onto the car ramps worked great. I think he might tell the ford dealership to get him some car ramps.

Just got my first oil change at 1,350 miles. on my 2024 ford maverick xl ecobost. Use Ford's mobile service I thought they would have some special Jack's to raise the truck up to remove underbody panel to get to drain plug and oil filter. But no when he arrived I asked so how you going to raise the truck up he said just like changing a tire use jacking point on passenger side then I crawl under and that's it. Well that's stupid why don't you use car ramps he said this is how they do it. Well I have been under my truck two times to take that panel off and even with car ramps it was hard to reach all the screws to get the underbody panel off. Anyway we used my ramps it went much smoother and easyer for him to do my oil change and also helped drain out all old oil because drain pluge is at the back of oil pan. He also did my BCM recall I had. So other than the stupid way he was going to get under my truck everything went great. Don't know if it costs more for them to come to your house for oil change because this was my free one for buying the truck from them. I loved it makes me feel like I have more control on what's being done to my truck. I do all my oil changes myself anyway but this one was free. The old oil was a greenish color and smelled bad he said it was a break in additive they put in at factory. Glad i did it early at only 1,350 miles on it. So I recommend ford mobile service

Oil Is cheap especially if you do it yourself. Change it often.

I refused a job because of the condition of their vehicles. They tried offering me a new one but no guarantee in writing and I would've had to drive a POS in the meantime (Montana winter, driving on shit tires and an unreliable rusted box truck- no thanks). It's surprising how many people take these company vehicles without inspecting them and expect to be absolved of any liability when something goes wrong. Same for any policy that lead to this tech believing it's safe to only use a jack when under a vehicle. I've also had to get a moving truck unstuck from my property because mid winter the drivers didn't think to ask for snow tires and then they turned onto an unplowed, incorrect road. Not a single bit of sense how to get unstuck either... anyways... people just do the minimum and it's understandable to a point because they are paying you the minimum, but if you are using their equipment in public, you better pay attention because the pre inspection checklist isn't just some boring task you have to do, it's there so they can check it and say "why did you check this off?". Imagine if that person had to call their employer and tell them they are stuck... who's fault is it then?

Spent way too long using Army equipment and doing Army inspections to let some company roll over on me for their crappy equipment or policies. always rolled down hill.

I could be wrong Don but I believe Ford recommends that green break in oil stays in until the first oil change at 5000 miles.

As I've written before, I bought my 2022 EB AWD Lariat this past February with 20k miles. Within 2 weeks I had ALL the fluids changed including the RDU and PTU, the oil, the coolant, and tranny. Now I've set the benchmark for myself and will continue to do this every 60 k miles. I know, I know, some may respond with saying I may be overzealous but my vehicles had lasted well over 300k and then sold so I must be doing something right

Yes, I did my first oil change at about 1.200 miles on my original '22 EB and now on my 24 hybrid.

Do I intend to continue to obsess on oil life? No.

I'm not going to wait until 10k miles between changes but I'm not going to throw resources away. I'm also not going to spend money on analyzing the oil.

In all my years of driving, I have never had an internal engine problem up to just under the 100k miles mark which is when I sell the vehicle. Nor have I had any automatic trans problems because I change that fluid too.

I sell to take advantage of new safety technology, changes in our familiy's needs, little things like plastic parts, upholstery, electronics etc. etc. that start to break or wear as my vehicle approaches the 100k mi. mark. Yes, I go to the Pick n'pull for parts so my vehicle doesn't look shabby.

But to keep a vehicle that has a cracked dash, worn upholstery, fading paint, body rust, worn bushings on the suspension, but with a perfect engine just isn't my idea of saving money.

Lots of different options when to do first oil change. But 1,500 miles seams to be the consensus of most people. Never heard of flushing with 1 quart of new oil but sounds logical. But bottom line first oil change is vary important to do sooner than what owners manual says.

I didn't do the flush, but I didn't think wanting to clear early bits of metal was a bad thing and was worth the 500mi change he suggested. On my Mustang GT's I typically did the first change at 1500 miles and then went with the recommended times by Ford.

Yes that is the consensus first at 1,5000 then second one at 5,000 then every 5,000 from then on
