Since the Maverick is based on the Former Transit connect platform
Except that it wasn't. It was designed by Ford Europe on a different platform.

Both are on variants of the Focus platform. The Last Focus was a Euro design too.

Beyond the Mustang family, officials showed dealers an upcoming compact van based on the Maverick pickup, pushing a physical prototype on and off the stage, according to the four attendees. That model, to replace the recently discontinued Transit Connect, is set to debut as early as next year, one person briefed on the plans said, although those in the room said Ford did not yet have a name or share production timing.

Before Ford killed the Transit Connect, which it had been importing from Spain, the automaker planned to build a next-generation model in Mexico alongside the Maverick and Bronco Sport.

I did not post the paywall link (the admin did)
Here is a free link, but actual photos have not surfaced yet (only renders)

Thanks. The van that was discontinued was very popular with seniors and small families. I am referring to the window model. It was easy to get in and out of and the seats made it easy to slide in. There was a company in Minnesota that was taking the small van was making interior modifications so it could be used as a camper that would fit in the garage.

I think the "dropping sales" of small vans was largely due to manufacturers simply not making that many anymore. If you followed sites like Ford Authority who report on which vehicles have discounts each month, there were almost never any available on Transit Connects. That tells me that the demand wasn't super soft, they just didn't import many.

I don't think they ever sold that many wagons, but I also don't think they ever really tried. They just needed to sell a few so they could continue their chicken tax evasion scheme. I own one. I absolutely love its functionality in shape, but they didn't try to hard on the details for the passenger vehicle.

One of my friends is a GM of the local dealership and got to see it. He said what was show was in cargo configuration, but that it had the cut outs for windows, so he wouldn't be surprised if it came with a passenger version too. I'm hoping. I like the hybrid Siennas, but I think they're optimized as passenger haulers (which is their main purpose of course). For all my gripes with my Transit Connect, I don't think there is a better mid-sized vehicle for hauling gear around shape-wise than a small boxy van. My van has more cargo space than the Sienna despite being over a foot shorter. Toss a few mountain bikes in the back wheels. Pack ridiculous amounts of camping gear. Maybe a small kayak. And still have a reasonably sized vehicle around town (the current Transit Connect is shorter than an Outback).

So, I'm really hoping they make a passenger version of the small van with a hybrid/AWD similar to the Maverick's system. I waited for the Maverick for almost two years, then decided in the meantime that a small truck was less useful to me than the van body (this was pre-AWD hybrid, which would have given it a point in its favor over the Transit Connect). I think it could basically be a supersized Element and really be a hit with outdoor folks. But I admit that I have somewhat unique vehicle tastes that don't always correspond to broader market trends, so we will see!

I think its a great idea for ford to reinvent any vehicle, like brining back the "Maverick"! Very successful!!! I dont agree with putting a badge on a new product with a recent vehicle thats working!

I owned a 2015 Ford Transit Connect
I had a 2019 Titanium model with the giant moonroof. I too really liked the van, but didnt like the powertrain, actually hated it. It failed right before 60K miles.
