Would be nice if if they could say what is inspected on motor.Recall notice
All I know is what the notice from Ford says:
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Maverick, 2023 Ford Bronco Sport, and 2023 Mustang Mach-E vehicles. The front windshield wiper motor may become inoperative, causing the wipers to fail.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the windshield wiper motor as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 26, 2024.
SUBJECT: NEW VEHICLE DEMONSTRATION / DELIVERY HOLD - Advance Notice – Safety Recall 24S51
Certain 2023 Model Year Bronco Sport, 2023-2024 Model Year Maverick and 2023 Model Year Mustang Mach-E Vehicles
Windshield Wiper Motor Inoperable
AFFECTED VEHICLES
Bronco Sport 2023 — Build Dates September 3, 2023 through October 6, 2023
Maverick 2023-2024 - Build Dates June 20, 2023 through September 29, 2023
Mustang Mach-E 2023 — July 3, 2023 through July 17, 2023
Or they built a few manufacturer-use "2024 model year" vehicles in that timeframe. For some of the 2022MY recalls it went back to January 2021 when they were building the preproduction units. As to the 23 vs 24 debate it could be that the identified bad motors came in a batch that was used in both years despite the build date. The computer parts tracking system would tie those parts to a particular truck.
I'm in the effective range so that makes 3 updates and a wiper motor I'm setting on.
Same here.Mine falls right in the middle of the date range but not showing any recalls yet.
It does say. Some were built without sealer between the wiper gearbox and cover.Would be nice if if they could say what is inspected on motor.
Like was there a batch of motors put in the build bin mixed with others, so only a specific SN range on them are bad ones?
I know the dealer still needs to do inspection and mark as completed on recall for VIN.
But it would be nice to know, check myself and if it doesn't matter I'll hold onto that recall until a visit for other things.
Thank you!It does say. Some were built without sealer between the wiper gearbox and cover.
Not sure why the difference in # of affected vehicles.Component manufacturing records indicated two dates of production that corresponded to the suspect wiper motors, June 18, 2023, and September 1st, 2023, during specific hours of production. A total of 2,142 suspect motors were produced during these production windows. Based upon supplier internal traceability, it was determined that the suspect wiper motors produced on June 18th were assembled into Maverick and Mach-E wiper final assemblies and the suspect wiper motors produced on September 1st were assembled into Bronco Sport and Maverick wiper final assemblies.
Ford’s production team reviewed supplier shipping records along with wiper assembly inventory and usage to determine the suspect vehicle production dates.

Ford's team reviewed supplier process and maintenance records to determine the population of affected parts.
18,681 affected vehicles may be equipped with suspect wiper motors.
These vehicles are not produced in VIN order. Information as to the applicability of this action to specific vehicles can best be obtained by either calling Ford's toll-free line (1-866-436-7332) or by contacting a local Ford or Lincoln dealer who can obtain specific information regarding the vehicles from the Ford On-line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) database.
Good luck seeing it.Thank you!
I guess time to find perhaps little mirror and correct reading glasses, unless it's really out easily visible.
I think on some prior cowlings I'd be accidentally breaking pins and such to remove it.
