I'm really close to pulling the plug on the same change, at 27,000 miles. May I ask what you paid installed? I looked on Tire Rack, and I figure with local installation I'm around $1,000 for four tires. It interested me that Tire Rack says the 2022 XLT AWD came with both 225 and 235 tires. Mine were 225. Love the free road hazard protection, as I have had flats on the OEM tires and that adds up.I replaced my Continentals about two weeks ago at 20,000 miles with Michelin Defender 2 with 80,000 specs. What a difference in noise and ride, even got rid of most of my rattles in the dash.
My lariat orm Michelin start to make noise about 5500 miles. Mfg web site recommends rotation when tread depth difference happens and expected at 4-6k miles. The OEM are 45k 8.5/32" and are Ford specs with the primacy OEM Toyotas also meet Ford specs. I seem to be getting better tread wear at 36 psi ambient. Every 10°F temp change requires resetting psi. I'm considering switching to conti "True Contact" 235/60/18 which are 3 lbs heavier than 225. They are 103H rated instead of 100H max psi of 51 instead of 40 so better sidewall. The true contact have 80k expected tread wear. The 235 are 29.1" instead of OEM 28.6". I am hoping my michelins last until my 3/36 OEM "replace any covered item" inspection. Should be able to get free alignment if dealer replace tires at that time.My contis are still holding up, although they got noticeably louder around the 10k mark, and they now chirp almost every time I pull onto main roads from the side roads. Braking traction remains spectacular, they ride fine, and despite multiple people saying wet traction sucks, I've been perfectly satisfied with them during torrential downpours at 60mph. Or on my usual 45mph roads lol.
They suck on dirt roads, especially uphill. And I always worry about them on my way to the trailheads. I'm running them until they're toast, but I wouldn't run them again unless they were stupid cheap lol.
I went to Mavis because I had a big nail/screw in one. I told the manager I would just get them at Costco unless he could get close to their price. He did, $881 installed with tax in Richland County South Carolina. . He only had one customer in the shop so he needed business. Ordered them but got them 9:30 the next morning.I'm really close to pulling the plug on the same change, at 27,000 miles. May I ask what you paid installed? Don't forget to ask dealer for coupons. Extra points? Free alignment? My local tire shop just quoted me $1,200 for installed Michelin Defender 2 tires, which is $400 for labor. Now to try the dealership.
holy schmoly, you can't be serious? you're pulling our leg? surely you jest?![]()
100k miles on my original Continentals in my '22 Hybrid... and still going. I would say +80 percent of my mileage is interstate. Some say they needed replacement a long time ago just because of mileage. Where I'm from, as long as they're still rolling, they're good. I will have to replace them though just because they might not pass State safety inspection. I don't know what I will replace them with yet. I would like to get the same but my finances will dictate that decision.
I thought they looked prematurely worn from under-inflation but that might not age the case...holy schmoly, you can't be serious? you're pulling our leg? surely you jest?
Yep, they are definitely getting there on the outside edges. Still, that part of VA must have some real powderpuff roads.I thought they looked prematurely worn from under-inflation but that might not age the case...
It's my old 900ss SP. I bought her new in 1995.Yep, they are definitely getting there on the outside edges. Still, that part of VA must have some real powderpuff roads.
Side note, I was racking my brain looking at your avatar, thinking "what bike has Brembos, AND a three-spoke wheel, AND carbon fiber body panels???" Then I saw your actual forum name... duh.
The lusty, exposed mechanical bits like in your avatar are what made me fall in love with bikes in the first place - when I was in college 30+ years ago... And I have lusted after Ducatis for decades too, but probably am going to hold on to my VFR until I can't ride on two wheels anymore. Cheers.
I know, hard to believe. But no reason to jest. I'm cheap and i like to make things last and get the most out of my money. I drive like a Sunday driver granny. That's not to say I take my time accelerating from take off. Last I want to do is piss people off behind me. I just take corners and turns really gently. My cold psi is set to 38 if that makes a difference.holy schmoly, you can't be serious? you're pulling our leg? surely you jest?
