I’ve tried disabling using the factory manual method probably 100 times with no success. I have a 24 lariat and had the same problem as many others where I would turn on the ignition but the red seatbelt would not turn off no matter how long I waitedI finally got it to work and here’s how.

I followed the process from the manual with these adjustments:

1: Don’t engage parking brake.
2: Don’t wait a minute for the red seatbelt light to turn off. Only wait to see the annoying seatbelt reminder on the center screen pop up which only takes a second or two and immediately buckle. Wait to see the pop up with the green driver’s seat. Once you see the green seat you’re clear to unbuckle. Wait to see the pop up with the red seat and repeat 3 more times for a TOTAL OF 4 BUCKLING CYCLES. The manual says 3 but 4 is what worked for me. After 4 total cycles you’ll see the red seatbelt light in the speedometer blink 3 times. That’s your indication that it worked. There’s no extra buckle cycle after the initial set like the manual says there is.

As a reminder, this WILL NOT get rid of the annoying pop up message, but it will disable the chime when you’re unbuckled.

If you want me to make a video showing exactly how I did it let me know and I’ll upload something to YouTube.
What's the video going to be called?

Thanks

Sir,

I have followed the owner's manual on both of my Rangers, my 2010 Escape and my 2016 Explorer. It has worked every time. The only time I don't wear my seatbelt is when I'm driving around my property; feeding deer, cutting limbs and trees, etc.

I followed YOUR instructions and it was the first time I actually saw the red seatbelt reminder flash three times. But alas... I still have that annoying chime. I spent countless minutes on the "Ford Owner Support" line. The first time I ended up in a survey loop; the second I was told I was a youtube video away from figuring it out myself. Arrggghhh! I'm more than frustrated over here!

Thanks for your help, but I'll have to keep digging!

I got my driver/passenger seat to turn off using the procedure in the '24 manual ('24 Eco XLT) with no problem first time for each seat. Manual says with engine ON, plug and unplug buckle 4 times and wait for light to flash.

The problem I had after that is when I unplug my seatbelt while driving the screen comes up with an orange border and doesnt let me press OK to dismiss it. I then tried to reverse what I did and still get the same thing. So my Plan B was to just disable the seatbelt menu/chime altogether using Forscan, and thats what I did. Now no seat belt minder at all!!

Wondering if this can be done with forscan.
Yes it can. I don't have any "dings", warning messages, or anything else seat belt related anymore. Don't need to click "OK" on the screen that shows who is buckled and who isn't etc.... Go look at the Forscan threads for details.

Disclaimer: I DO still wear my seat belt religiously. I have two kids who ride with me, and they wear theirs. It was that dang "You need to press ok EVERY SINGLE FREAKING TIME" screen that was killing me. So when I disabled that, I went ahead and disabled the other things like the "ding ding ding" when you take off a belt while the truck is running etc....

As adults, we can do without these reminders. The only time I don't buckle up is driving back from the mail kiosk in our sub.

'Friggin Genius! I must have tried variations on the procedure in the owners' manual 20 times, and nothing worked. I tried your method once and bingo! Thank you.

I find the dinger ceases to work after four cycles...then it's quiet again until you shut down the engine and restart it.

I too followed the Owners Manual instructions with no success. But now, with the safety brake off and not waiting a period of time for the red seatbelt emblem to extinguish, it work the first time for both front seats! Thanks
Still no luck with the rear seats.
