It seems like there's been quite a bit of customer backlash over it in recent years, so I'm cautiously optimistic. It's a huge accessibility issue as well, my wife is blind so moving all this stuff to the touch screen makes it completely unusable for her as a passenger
I really hope that by the time I wear my '23 out manufacturers have gotten over this trend of moving climate and stereo controls to the touch screen. One of the things I loved about the Maverick in the first place was actual buttons for the important controls
Sorry, I don't have measurements on the 2x6s. I just took a rough measurement with a measuring tape, cut them a little generous and then nibbled down the fit until it was just right. No support under the horizontal shelf, I'll add one if I ever catch it bowing but it seems fine so far. Straps...
This is what I ended up going with. I just keep a 2x6 shelf and divider in the bed pretty much all the time, with the divider ripped down so it's even with the half-height tailgate and the wheel wells. Whatever I'm hauling I just slide across those three supports, works great for both sheet...
Saw a comment from someone the other day about how hauling a kayak in their truck bed after pulling it out of salt water ended up rusting out their tailgate/tow hitch as the water got down into the crack between the tailgate and bed. That was a Toyota, but now I'm getting a little worried about...
Initially I just put mine across the 2x4 and 2x6 I keep in the bed + the tailgate in half down position, with a Sheett bed extender. It worked basically fine, but I was always really paranoid about the amount that hung out the back (this one is 11', our tandem is 12'). Hopefully this one will...
I wanted one of those Viking racks but the bed is too narrow for one, so I just went ahead and shamelessly copied their design. My version bolts on to the unistrut bed rail. Everything feels solid so far, but I still have to test actually driving around with it
Welp, I just tried to close the tailgate without realizing that one of my ratchet straps fell down into the gap. Thankfully I didn't put a ton of force behind it, but it scratched up the paint and afterwards I found the bed didn't want to close until I shifted it a little forward back into its...
Searching the forum I've seen a couple people showing off somewhat sketchily long loads, but what's your go-to technique for just carrying regular 8-10' long boards? Do you strap them down directly to the bed, or put the tailgate in the mid position and use supports in the flex bed to lift them...
Hi all, I've been thinking about building a box for the back of my bed, and I'm curious if anyone else here has done something similar and has any ideas about it. Here are some quick mockups, not to scale because I haven't pulled any dimensions yet but it should get the idea across:
The...
