To further my point above, the Mav is a good vehicle if you pay less than $25k (mine was $22.5k)....I cannot imagine spending more than $30k for it...so many better options out there at that price point.
Ok, so so 35-40, what would you get?

Maverick has more interior room than a Ranger IIRC, but if you want bigger I'd go Ridgeline. Its a good vehicle, just overdo for a proper interior refresh IMO. I also think that the fit and finish of the interior plastics on the Maverick are better for more modest configurations. When you get to a fully loaded first edition, I'd also start leaning towards perhaps the Santa Cruz Limited or Ridgeline RTL. There's going to be an all new Ranger for next year that may be worth waiting for, and the F-150 can be configured in trims that aren't all that expensive if you have butts that are too big for a Maverick. I personally wouldn't buy the current Ranger or Frontier.

Tacoma bro, it will last the longest and resell for the most. Only reason i got the mav over the tacoma is because of how expensive the tacoma has become. The tacoma will be vastly superior in build quality, reliability, and offroad/work capabilities.

I love the people criticizing those of us who spent more than $30k on the Maverick. Like all of us have to order the cheapest car ever. Some of us like features that we are willing to pay for. I'd rather pay $36k for a fully loaded Mav, than pay $36k for a lesser equipped, Ranger/Tacoma/Frontier/Ridgeline.

With that said, if you're worried about interior space, go for the mid size option you like most, which in my case, would be the Ridgeline.

I would pick a Mav over any of those at any price point, though. I really don't like the Tacoma, the new Frontier is cool but not my thing, and the Ridgeline is too much $$$ for its outdated interior.

I'd also be curious about seeing the new Ranger, because it's looking good, based on the spy shots, but again, that's more truck than I need.

I have a Tacoma, 2020. Wife has 4Runner. 4Runner made is Japan, Tacoma in Mexico. 4Runner is by far and away the better vehicle and will hold its value almost as well as Tacoma.

I have owned my Mav for about 1 month now. It's very clearly built to a price point. There are all kinds of rattles and miss-aligned parts and everything is made of hard/cheap plastic. For near $20k I can overlook and accept this stuff, expecially for a work truck. For over $30 or $35 I would not be happy.

When I priced out a Maverick Lariat I realized the price was getting close to the base price of a Honda Ridgeline.
Personally, I prefer the Ridgeline, but I like the smaller size of the Maverick. I went ahead and asked an automotive broker I've used in the past to order me a Sport Ridgeline. He said he would, but he had no idea when it would arrive. He'd ordered a new Ridgeline for a customer way back in May and there was still no word when it would arrive.
He figured May or June, at the earliest.
I test drove a Lariat a couple of weeks ago and bought a Lariat at another dealership last week.
I could have gone with a XL and XLT, which makes more economic sense when it comes to the Maverick, but at 70 years old I decided to (for once) get everything I wanted.

I ordered the Maverick Lariat First Edition back in the first week of June and still don’t know when mine will get assembled. So, frustrated I actually found the same truck for sale 200 miles away and put 500 down (will already be there for work). Today I test drove a Maverick XLT just to check it out. I liked it. I just didn’t love like I wanted to (can’t put my finger on it). I’m afraid the cab will be too small for my two kids and I’m afraid that I’ll eventually hate all the plastic. I drive a Golf right now but used to have an old ranger. Looking for something with a decent ride on the highway.

Can you help me make my mind?

My options are:
Maverick Lariat First Edition in Area 51. X plan pricing
Ridge line RTLE in modern steel
Frontier with employee discount
Hey buddy. I have a Maverick XL AWD with 2 Car Seats in the back. I have had it for two weeks.I am 6ft 2” 260lbs. Plenty of room. This truck is the best vehicle I have ever owned. For the 25k I paid for it its a steal. Don’t waste your money on the Ridgeline. I traded a 2020 F-150 for my Maverick. It is absolutely awesome!

Correct. You might not be. Yours makes noises. Mine might not. You can get the same build quality issues in many cars that some of us would pay $30-35k for. It’s not exclusive to the Mav.

For 35k, I’m very happy ordering a Mav with all of the features I want.

I like the blue, I should have ordered that instead of silver! Tell me about your tires please.

The Frontier does not belong in your group being body on frame rather than unibody like the other two. That is a huge factor that makes a difference in many facets of the truck.

That being said, I test drove a 20 RL Sport with 6K miles on it for a few days. Seemed like a great truck. Smooth, plenty of power, good gas mileage, and yes it does feel roomier than the Mav. It's probably not tremendously bigger but it feels noticeably bigger. The flat floor in the rear seat and the huge trunk in the bed floor are nice. The double opening tailgate will amaze your kids. The stereo kinda sucked and it's not the best looking truck out there IMO...unless you get a 21+. The front ends are much improved on those. The price is a "zonk" for the RL though. If you're talking buying new, the cheapest RL starts at 37ish I believe and Honda doesn't throw out a lot of incentives.

I would have bought the RL that I test drove but I too stumbled across the info regarding water intrusion into the cab. Checked under the carpet of the one that I had at my house for a test drive and sure enough, it was soaked. Personally, I would not buy a RL without first soaking the rear window/front bed area with water for 10-15 minutes (or just grab it after it's been rained on) and then checking under the rear carpet for moisture. It's very easy and painless to check. Honda puts some kind of moisture barrier under the carpet so the top of the carpet was dry! I had to pull the rear door sill plate off of each side (they simply pop/snap off...just pull firmly) and stick my arm up under the carpet as far as I could to feel the water. Driver side felt dry. Passenger side was wet. This was a clean vehicle with no accident damage! I'm sure Honda would have made it right under warranty but who wants to deal with that?? Not this guy.

Not sure if that helps or hurts your decision, lol. But there you go.

I got BFG Trail Terrains. They are rated for snow and BFG is a trusted tire brand in my opinion. I went with exactly the same size as what was on there. They were 173 a piece at my local tire guy. Also, the their is a guy on the threads that tested them in snow mud and trails and they worked for what I want. I want them for Midwest Winters. Also, I love the white letters with the steel rims!
