Every day this happens. When traveling up hills in my area, the throttle suddenly becomes unresponsive as the truck slows down (10-15mph from beginning speeds) even though I increase throttle input to the floor where it finally kicks down a gear or more sometimes and surges back up to speed. All I'm trying to do when this happens is to maintain 45mph. Essentially, its a massive resistance to shift down.

It's like the throttle completely stops reading the input and ignores it until I floor it to keep up with traffic. This is repeatable and very frustrating.

Anyone else get this?

No, and it does not sound like an engine issue to me, I would say transmission.

I'd get it in to a Ford dealership to diagnose asap.

Not normal. I get a little turbo lag but that's only coming from starting when stopped at idle. When it's up over about 2-2.5k rpm it's fine.

A transmission can do a lot of bad things when low on fluid, so I'd certainly hope the dealership checks that first. If the fluid level is OK and isn't exhibiting metal fragments or signs of overheating, this might be fixable with PCM reflash.

I definitely would not let them just reset the TCM relearning and hope for the best.

Yeah, definitely something is not right. Even if you're in the Eco mode (which tends to strive to the tallest gear), this isn't right.

I had a problem like described on one of my vehicles that turned out to be a vacuum leak. Mine would rev to the redline point. Fortunately the dealer was close by and they fixed it. On this occasion I believe resulted in the transmission being replaced.

Hey there. Can you send over a private message with your VIN and estimated mileage? I would like to look into your throttle concerns on my end.

Thanks to your symptom description, I got a reprimanding point for politics. Sorry to all who I may have offended.

Can a mod please correct this situation? My comment should not get another person is "trouble". Please fix this and remove these comments. Just totally ridiculous.

Sounds like you are continually slightly increasing the throttle and the computer is trying to figure out where you want it to be so it can go to the needed gear. Try backing off pedal and then push pedal to where you want it.

Why not. I can see if that helps. I am, when going up mountains, giving it more gas to maintain a specific speed and this is where the truck just falls flat on its face. It fails to downshift and totally stops giving the throttle command the the engine.

I referenced two politicians, 1 from each side, that are notorious for "freezing up"! You can guess..

And I love George! Used to be my avatar here.
