Well here is the story of my 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid. At around 23k miles on the truck I started to notice a slight vibration under hard acceleration and upon further inspection found that grease was oozing out of my inner CV joint on the passenger side CV axle. Well called my local Ford dealer for an appointment and at that time they were a month out. So after a month i brought the truck in and they confirmed that the CV axle did needed to be replaced but at that time they were on a back order with no replacement in sight. Well another month went by and the truck started to become unable to drive without the front end feeling it was going to vibrate apart even under just light acceleration. So i dropped my truck off at my local dealer again and they gave me a loner and about 2 weeks later the CV axle finally arrived and I received my truck back. Fast Forward to today and roughly 59k miles later since the first replacement it is not doing it again and I am totally out of warranty since my truck has about 88k on it. Ford, CV axles should last longer than 59k miles!!! Any help with this would be great as I have another Ford vehicle on order and would love to get this taken care of before the 2025 Explorer I have on order comes in!

Is it lifted, lowered or stock?

Do you know its the CV Axle.
Is it/was it the same one that was replaced or the other side that now has 88k on it.

Same one that was replaced as I am seeing grease oozing of of the inner cv joint once again and the same vibration happening once again as well.

Captain Obvious, who's superpower is hindsight, would say you should have gotten the extended warranty. 😬

I bought extended warranty hoping I'll never need it. But if I do, at least I paid for it in 2023 dollars who knows how inflated repairs NOT under warranty might cost years down the road?

Anyone know how these are to replace on the hybrids? Hopefully aftermarket will appear soon. I have an older Volvo and one of my original 1995 CVs went out about eight years ago, I bought one from Autozone for $65. Volvo wanted like $800.

I'm not excusing it but hopefully they are easy to replace (and cheap).

Technically this only applies to parts paid for by the customer. If they were replaced under the vehicle warranty by Ford, then they are not covered. The warranty for parts that were replaced under the vehicle warranty expires when the vehicle warranty expires.

https://www.motorcraft.com/us/en_us/home/warranty.html

  • The Service Parts Warranty (SPW) applies to all Motorcraft® and Ford Parts sold to customers or installed on a customer-paid repair, effective October 1, 2013.
If Ford paid for the parts and Ford paid to install them, then you do not get the standard parts warranty.

I heard a rumor somewhere that Ford gets the Mav's CV axles from Hyundai.
Can anyone confirm or correct this?

Look on the boots at least and you'll see the Hyundai logo

I have herd this issue before. Is it mostly confined to Hybrids? I have an ecoboost still on the fence about the extended warranty.
