I was having issues with my VW mk7 GTI Andriod auto on it would only connect when plugged in one way, and would cut in and out. I bought this cable

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0BVFHNCJ6/ref=cm_sw_r_apanp_atHtE3lic1vE5

And it has been flawless ever since! I've always had issues with Andriod Auto since I've owned the car with many different cables, but this one works great!

Also I've found that the wireless AA adapters are iffy at best. I bought 4 different ones, and none were very reliable. Would work for about a week and then wouldn't connect anymore.

Why would anyone need 240W for an Android phone (or Apple for that matter) connected to a car? Most of these phones have a max charging rate of 45W or less. I have been using the plain old Samsung 25W USB-C to USB-C cable that came with my phone and it has never had an issue.
I use them to charge my laptop Thunderbolt docking and charging. I5 with an Invida 1080. can pull 223 watts.
so not really for a phone.

BTW the cable in question supports data transfer up to 480Mbps. As I said again it is definitely a data cable as it was recommended as "the best overall cable for Android auto."

You do this in the Maverick on the built in USB port for the purpose of Android Auto? Yes, I understand laptops use high wattage USB-C, but the OP was talking about a phone and Android Auto.

I think your source of the rating is suspect. I don't see why they would recommend a 240W cable that only supports 480Mbps. That is only USB 2.0 speeds.

If you have a flagship phone product, use the cable that was supplied with the phone and you should have a good experience.

Agree with all that, and regardless of any product's claimed features and reviews if it doesn't work properly, I would immediately return it. Simple as that.

I use the extra 6 inch cable that was provided with my Pixel Pro and it works without any issues. Aftermarket cables have been hit or miss. K.I.S.S.

I too was curious about the 240 watt and 480mb speed.

And of course I have a flagship phone... which of course means its MSRP was well over $1000 and didn't come with a cable. But I bet in the documentation somewhere Sony still says to only use the provided cable.

Gonna try this cable next until I decide on a wireless AA solution. Has anyone had any luck with a dual AA/Carplay wireless dongle in the Maverick?

It was the why USB C /Thunder blot needs a 240 watt spec I don't think phones or tablets will ever take that amount of draw. No the maverick would not out put that amount of power with out blowing the fuse 10 amps at 12v is 120 watts.

I disagree with this. Assuming the battery tech can handle it, and specifically any heat associated, I think charging power in handhelds will continue to increase over time. if 60 is normal now, in 5 years or less 240 could reached - again, assuming the handheld doesn't overheat. there probably is some practical limit with lithium ion batteries but who knows what the future will hold, especially if batteries change to sodium or some other medium.

As an Amazon guy, I would try this one. $52 with current discount. In 30 days you will find out everything you need to know, except longevity. But as these are pretty new, few will have experience.

One thing not mentioned by anyone here about charging 240 watts thru USB, (which seems to be possible nowadays...) is that it's likely only possible from a charger for wall outlets, NOT a vehicle! There's only 12 volts in vehicles (reality is more since most charger around 13.5 - 13.9V) and that would need to pull 20 amps! I can't see any tiny conductor like a regular USB cable, or outlet, handle that much.

Correct. 140W-240W USB-C power delivery operates at 28-48V.

It makes sense they changed it since otherwise they'll let out all the magic pixie smoke from the wires!
