Mine has been fine, since April 2023. Sure it "could/should" be "better", but Ford is selling a "cheap" truck!! :)

Well they will indeed be a problem if you live in the north.
Those will get ice built up and they will get ripped off. If you never encounter that. They should be fine. I would personally get under it and try to secure them better.
Thanks I do live up north so I think this is going to be a problem. I will try to zip tie and tape them.

I would also fabricate or install a shield to prevent winter slush/brine from being thrown up into tail light area causing premature rusting. Search threads here on the subject. Just do a search on "left rear wheel well gap" for starters.

I was appalled when I rust pro'd my Tremor and the underside looked like spaghetti full of electrical connections.

Definitely will not stand the test of time.

Not sure about the wiring but my weathertech mud flaps cover that gap on left rear.

I guess this is your first pickup. I've owned pickups for decades and open areas behind the wheels are the way ALL pickups have been built.
I agree it looks a little unfinished and is a definite place for road crap to build up but Ford has been doing pickups like this for ever. You can make up a filler panel but my advice is to make it removeable so you can inspect it periodically.
Dribbles of water seeping between tailights and outer fenders is not a new thing. I use an oil based rust proofing system which coats all exposed areas and the wiring and is done yearly. My 2008 Ranger has exposed areas like this on BOTH sides but I haven't had wiring issues. My Maverick is now getting the yearly oil treatment.

Thank you! Yes it is my first truck. I will do that and appreciate your help!

In your experience, is it normal / ok to have those exposed colored wires out? I plan on covering them with tape, but I just didn’t know if it is normal for them to be exposed at the connections.

Crawl up under any modern pickup and you’ll see dozens of exposed wires for lighting, sensors, etc..

Your truck will be fine.

Good luck

Ye sir you spend a bit of time supporting them better you should be fine. The wires themself being open is no issue. But I would recommend like stated above. Coat them.
I’ve used amsoil had metal protector for years with good luck. Also like fluid film and the newer on blaster. All should keep corrosion away for a few years longer.

Mud flaps would help but there is still a gap that I had to cover using sheet metal, aluminum is easy to work with, I used a brass kick panel because I had it, even stiff plastic like a campaign sign would work. Picture is dark square but it should give you an idea. I don't post on YouTube.
